Although all Muslim groups consider the Quran to be divine, Sunni and Shia have different opinions on hadith.

It is not religious only anymore and that is the problem and not only Muslims are in.
It is a political-religion matter that includes all the 3 major religions and the atheist are not out either.

So in terms of square miles, kilometers, think Iraq smaller, and what countries are neighboring it? And this new military machinery, tribal supported through acceptance and capitulation - will be called different names and have different borders and countries.
I am still trying to wrap my head around the history that Iraq was once Macedonia, one of the oldest and greatest empires of long, long ago and in a far, far away land.
