minnieme2: I took it as a guide and all we have to do is use our common sense and logic as to what suits us as individuals. So it's all good as far as I'm concerned. :) Not sure a debate can be avoided dragos. Good luck with that one! lol! I won't be debating anyway. Have a good weekend!

I am glad to hear this. Common sense is a sign of confidence and much more.

I am 155cm and used to be 40kg (not really familiar with '/" and lbs). During the fasting month, I lose 1-2kg.
So while you're cutting some excess weight, I am struggling to gain more.. I did try my best, but keep on failing..! frustrated

Congrats Dragos, main thing is you are feeling ok with yourself.

I was sick years ago and lost lots of weight. I found myself too skinny and people still get twitchy should I loose weight. I do think these charts are a good indication, but not to be taken as the bible.

My main aim is to keep my weight stable (no problem with that, I do cook healthy but have a sweet tooth). I personally like myself with a few pound more then on the skinny side.

Same with men btw.

Sometimes these are tough goals to accomplish and even though this world is seemingly more tolerant of Excess weight I know I personally feel a lot better and energetic when I am closer to my optimum weight. Even if others say things like. "I like a little extra belly" or things like that. The Above chart is For informative purposes only. We all are what we choose or what we can manage. That's just life.

Tell me about it i have started a new regime to get my type 2 back on track .dietitian has told me to eat
1 high protein
2 low carb
3 low fat
I've lost 7 kilos in 3 weeks woohoo 43 more kilos to lose !!

With me, I have a more rounded lower half. laugh When I was sick and my weight was the lowest, I couldn't get trousers that fit. I had to sew them smaller along my legs when I wanted to fit them over my hip bones. The bones on my collar were sticking out. uh oh

I can live with a few pounds more remembering how it was a good few years back and I think thin just doesn't suit me, it's just not "proportional".

minnieme2: Maybe too tolerant of excess weight. It's so bad for people. Heart failure and diabetes comes to mind. A few pounds over is fine but after that something should be done if you value your health.

I think the lower scale numbers are too low though, like epirb said. But you could go midway between the two, like in 5'2 it's 104 - 131 lbs so go for 118lbs, give or take a pound or two, depending on the person.

Where did you get it, if you don't mind me asking? I saved it, handy to have a guide like this especially after Christmas time! lol

oops. I meant to say. after looking I did not see the bookmark or the exact chart on a quick search, but indeed I saw a multitude of many different charts and some that even had these lower limits as "too thin" And many charts that were with the numbers adjusted a bit the other way. I know for me personally it is unfortunately doubtful I come close to my lower limit on this particular chart... But I truly will work as I said earlier to get mine down and at the same time increase my activities... I very well may be having a very serious surgery that actually is more dangerous and could even take an extra 2 hours if I decide not to change my current weight and mass distribution. I actually went through one over 2 decades ago and in the notes that were not so easy to get it was plainly stated that it was more lengthy because of this same situation (for me) And I will be also in full communication with my physician.( in neither of these instances was I considered overweight to the people around me or even my "wife" at that earlier time..and she was sometimes quite critical and even outspoken.. I am even hoping that in this endeavor I may avoid this "surgery", though that is only my personal hope and not promised to me by my surgeon. On the other hand It also was not dismissed. I normally would not disclose this information but as long as I am keeping it a general statement I have no problem mentioning it. At that time I will possibly be gone from here for a period of time. I am doing other things as well to prepare but that is not for this thread...lol. Time can indeed create challenges for us all and for some maybe not so much. Thanks again.

If it does not feel realistic for "anyone", they are more than welcome to ignore it or come up with their own thread for whatever it is they wish to be or even remain as they are. It is not a place to engage others in a adversarial or argumentative manner. In fact part of being healthy is that of balance.
I ask of all not to turn a thread that is merely my own goal as a place to engage others in debate.
Thanks,

I apologise. I was showing concern for people going too far the other way.

It's not the real root of your anger towards me though, is it?

No need to apologize to me Jac. And no anger towards you or anyone. Actually have been feeling pretty good. Been having a friend over once a week to work on both his and my own personal songs...working on his 2 first till they are in a complete state and on CD. Then we will do the same with 3 of mine. LOL. I pay the electricity bill. ;-} But this and even though the days have been very warm I have been enduring many things with a different mindset. So, please do not feel any ill feelings. ok? I hope not. Hey! maybe you will end up being in one of my songs! you never know.

I had my body mass measured by Bioelectrical impedance analysis using an electronic device that looked like little more than a bathroom scale and a printer.
They say it's quite accurate, much more so than the charts, and can be very inaccurate if you do't have an "average" body.
If you can find a health care facility that has on, try it, but make sure you are well "normally" hydrated.

This actually happened to me as well when I was just out of my teens. I had been placed on Steroids for medical reasons...not the body builder type. So in that short period it put me in a point that was not what I was used to. ( a bit bigger ) but not so much..just very rapid. After a year I was taken off them as the steroids were said to be more dangerous and they were not helping as they wished. After that I asked about losing some weight and at that time because I had been very skinny before them they were not very happy about the idea of me losing weight....I gradually did get to a fairly average weight and size but not like I had been prior to that. Same things though, good diet and a fair amount of exercise.
I was usually more critical of myself than what I "thought" others were of me.

nerd popcorn

do you have any charts to publish on intelligence and its link to health?

65-85 below normal yet functional - still able to join CS but unable to comment in forums

80-100 IQ Normal joined CS and post in forums

100 - 106 Above Normal joined CS, posts in forums and blog, photos and videos and music

106 - 110 Bright, therefore questions the rational for joining CS and are actively dating and wondering why there are so many scammers

110 and above - found your mate and are now living in the real world.

Dragos1: Thanks for your kind words. I am 185 pounds at present.
I have no one that accuses me of looking out of shape but according to both the chart and that of what doctors say is optimal I know that I am going to be happier dropping even 10 pounds. I was about 165-170 a few years ago. I do believe I can do it, I just need to be consistent and patient with my own self.

I found this thread I made a few years ago. If I had not read it myself I would not have really been so quick to believe I was at "185" back then. Still not at the "Optimum" weight, but at "162" I am pretty close. That "185" must have been a typo! LOL. Funny how time flies.

Aw, it was more of just a surprise. I think that was about 2 years ago I had posted the "thread". I think wherever I am now is just because of my lifestyle. No real "goals" as far as "weight". But it was kind of a nice surprise. I don't really get on here so much these days...too many "projects" that keep me busy. But always nice to see you are doing well.
