My distant relatives came to visit for the weekend...two weeks ago!!!! I've done many things to make their stay as uncomfortable as possible, yet they show no interest in leaving.

Ohh yesss.... I've had that - many times!
I have had family on both sides arrive for Christmas on Christmas Eve and not leave until the day after New Year's Day.... ARRGGHHH!!!
You should drop into the conversation that you have other 'family', friends, whatever coming soon and you are stressed at having the get the place ready for THEIR arrival. To be believable and if necessary, start doing the things you need to do to get the place in order, i.e. washing/changing bed linen, thinking about food provisions, etc.
If they still don't take the hint, I fear there is something more tactical in their stance, i.e. being in control (yes, I've had that too)? Then, you will have to be firm and throw them out...!!
I'm sorry, but if some people can't assess a situation and modify their behaviour accordingly, i.e. realising when they've over-stayed their welcome in this situation.....
However, you say you have gone to great lengths to make their stay as comfortable as possible.... perhaps you shouldn't?! You've made them TOO comfortable. Make sure you have minimum food in, no loo rolls, suggest you have to cut back on the electricity so no TV and no lights on. Issue them with candles...?!

If they're distant relatives just tell them you'd like them to become even more distant....As you not so subtlety point to the door.

Uncomfortable, not comfortable. I like your suggestions. And yes I also stopped buying groceries, I also faked a prolonged power outage during a recent rainstorm.

Leave them a note saying your gone camping for a week.Give them a note telling to lock the door and go out the window when the leave. If you got text have them text you as they go.
Stop being a good host.Begin by showing them the door by carrying their luggage out the door and setting it by their vehicle if that's what they came in.

It would be uncomfortable for you but if you turn the hot water off and fake that you need to get a plumber it might work
