serene56: The other one is a Thai chilli plant John I only planted the herbs on Saturday, so they're tiny, but I think they'll be happy there in sheltered sunlight, like the succulents have been
Grew a few myself recently..most of which were enjoyed by the enemy , the slug but what remained, was worth the trouble.
One2note: I can imagine.. Here in London , we have a growing problem with vermin , such as foxes & squirrels.. Haven't had a single nut off my Pecan tree since I planted it 6/7 years ago. Birds eat most of my figs, so it does get frustrating at times, but I will persevere again next year, with the same enthusiasm.
Foxes are not vermin!
They are a native species whose habitat is being destroyed by building etc. They are being forced into cities and towns, not through want but by necessity,
If the squirrels are red squirrels, they too are native species.
grey squirrels are an exotic species which is a danger to the lovely red squirrel unfortunately. They should never have been introduced.

It's a challenge for sure

I've realised why people get so into their gardens, even when they don't quite meet your expectations, somehow you still have peace nd harmony

The story about foxes is pretty sad, considering they are not town dwellers originally .. They have become ugly creatures because of the fact , living in towns & cities , isn't their natural habitat & natural orange coat has become an almost , grey like colour as a result.
Never seen a red squirrel .. Always though they were native to America .
