X/mass, easter, fathers day/ mothers day and the like has been commercialised by multinational corporations to maximize profits.
The sheeple follow blindly because they don't want to be the odd one out. Mindless consumerism has got the general public by the balls and won't let go until there is a huge awakening of where we are heading.I'm not a Grinch but things are getting ultra tacky and superficial and need to change for the better.sleep

PrOwLeR__: I had self serve lollies where you scoop them into a bag and then pay by weight ... let me tell you ... Had I ever seen an ant I would have been mortified ..... I swept and mopped the shop every night and weekly I would surface spray all the vents, windows and of cause door ways ...I'm glad to be out of that place, there was always so much cleaning to be done ...

laugh

I know what you're sayin thumbs up We had to carry a can/cans of fly spray to kill the ants stuck before we loaded chocolates. But cans were out of our pockets mumbling

So seeing that we (drivers) had to pay for spray $$$$$ ... We would rather spray before chockies would go into the dumper laugh As it would've taken approx a week for the ants little teeth to get down to chockies, as they (chockies) were inbetween layers of cardboard, plastic film and more cardboard and more plasic etc... blah nom nom laugh ... but not good to see ants in confectionary shops please

While ex#1 & I had a general store on the outskirts of Sydeny, it was a time of change (24 store trading came in during our time). We did end up having a fairly healthy income from confectionary....we had become known as the best shop for lollies (this was pre-Lolly Shop days) and people did come and load up for parties, Xmas, etc because they knew they could get great value. We had big display cabinets with an enormous range...and we did make a hefty profit even when we were the best value for money for many miles around.

One night, we had left after a very, very long day and one of the cabinets was left open for some reason (probably someone grabbing something on the way out).

Opened up the next morning at 7.00am as usual, with customers waiting, as usual. Lucky for us it was the mums & dads popping in to grab milk, bread or smokes that they had run out of and so did not see our mouser cat asleep in the lolly cabinet further down the counter.

suppose Melbourne cup news qualifies

But favourite Admire Rakti has died after finishing last in the race. It won the Caulfield Cup in brilliant style last month, and today raced near the lead for most of the 3200-metre journey.

As it rounded the final bend the horse was clearly under pressure and dropped back through the field sharply.

He finished 25 lengths behind the second-last horse.

Chief steward Terry Baily said the seven-year-old collapsed and died when he returned to the tie-up stalls after the race.

carrying a lot of weight , I can never fathom why they handicap horses , sure make it even by carrying the same . Makes no sense , I could beat John Walker in a mile race if he was made to carry 100 kgs , makes as much sense . Daft .

don't think they are allowed cats in dairys now , most dangerous thing sold here is smokes , places forever being robbed with weapons .
