I have read where NZ had the second highest mobilisation on the allied side , second only to USSR . Not surprised to see our high death rate .

Obscuritan: Depends what you mean by a "doomsday" AA (and Gold71). by "doomsday" do you mean annihilation by nuclear bombs? Or a virulent epidemic among humans or a part of our food supply? (For example an epidemic wiping out all wheat crops in the world could be catastrophic.) Maybe an asteroid impact? A chemical spill affecting most of the world?
Would any of these halve the world's population in 3 months? Don't know how you can be so specific?
I guess the idea of the bunker is protection against roving bands of armed and dangerous people looking for a means of survival? If properly set up and equipped they might also protect against mild nuclear fall-out, chemicals, disease spores and space radiation. Expensive proposition though.
As no one can predict the future, any one of those things could happen.. other ones could be super volcano, economic meltdown, religious war and there would be others that I haven't thought of.
There are some good examples on YouTube of relatively cheap systems that are fairly easy to construct.
I'm not sure if I will build one but I like the idea.

Lucky they are not in this country...

I don't know if I am terrified more of the thought of those snakes or of the poor mum snake having to give birth to 15 -40 babies..

Cripes, they were not small when they emerged..

Poor thing.. help
