Bad luck. You have to give back a sense (common, isn't included sorry). It's your choice which one though.

Sight. Hearing. Touch. Taste. Smell.

What's your choice?

Mine is Sight.

Well, I'm 53, and I've seen all I need to "see". I can visualise everything, with my eyes closed. Yes I'd miss sunrises and sunsets, but I can feel, and remember them.

I'd struggle without touch.

A noble task, training them, or helping others, in general. I should add one of my favourite artists period is Stevie Wonder. That's inspiration enough for me to know I could. He played nearly every instrument on soooo many songs. I could barely pass recorder class in school ("I'd rather be a sparrow, than a snail").

Thank you Serene, and all. Reading for awhile. Personally, I'd rather be humane, but alas I didn't write that song.

Ambiguity aside, the sun always rises in the east. There's my compass.

If a woman ever asked me that question while she was sober? I would probably lock my self in the bedroom until the police arrived. laugh

Having had 3 eye operations, cataracts, etc, I would say DEFINITELY not sight. You need sight to even get around and do even the most basic things in life- putting aside sunsets, etc. How does Stevie Wonder find the entrance marked "stage"? Or anywhere he wants to go? He has to ask people constantly. I would hate to be that dependent on others.
I would say smell is the least 'essential' or maybe taste, as you can still smell your food.
