wash2u: I lost my sense of "smell" about a decade or so ago (something to do with an op I had to have done for a benign tumor). My son, as I found out many years later, has no sense of smell until it comes down to koalas in the environment (they stink).

Of the "5 Senses" Smell is the most pervasive.
I love to SEE things - I can always close my eyes when I see someone having an injection.
I love to TASTE things - if it tastes horrible, I will not have anymore.
I love to HEAR things - I can always block my ears if I do not like it (except when the neighbour has it fullbore.
I love to FEEL things - a soft carressing is so......But when Lookin someone farts it is so rank.

Hearing - not a hope!! That makes up for my crappy sight!
Touch - not a hope!! Never to feel my dogs nudging my leg, looking for attention? Never to feel their soft fur again? Nope, not a hope! Not to mention that I'm an extremely tactile person
Smell - not a hope!! You also lose the sense of taste so that's a double whammy!
That leaves Taste, which I have already said I don't want to lose....

I have always heard as one ages they lose their sense of taste and smell. That the two senses are kind of reliant on one another. Wonder if there is any truth in that?
