yes there would be a link there, they say genetics, childhood, teen, adult traumas--- play a part in developing voices

Voices in the head seems a symptom of something wrong, but I think every case should be evaluated individually.
Probably it's only a perception of a internal monologue, except those who believe in telepathic communication. Since this is not proven, a psychiatrist could think that this is also a disorder.
I think that in this site others could give a more accurate diagnose.

I feel the voices in your head come from your own head,or over sensitivity of imagining other sounds or noises that you interpose as voices,or maybe there voices from spirits of the past.
Who really know's, i don't think we as people are intelligent enough to know exactly at this present time.

i was in Teneirife on holidays in 2000 when the onsloth of voices plagued my mind leaving me a broken young man, i ended up in febles campo(mental hospital) for weeks my 2 brothers had to go over to take me home, i was never the same after that...

it went deeper than alcohol and nicotine..add cannibis and exctacy in my teens, the last time i took exctacy 8 of them added with anti psychotics and anti depressants plus 12 pints i got cut up a 12 inch scar 2mm from the main artuary on me neck and a stab wound in me back..i guess my time wasnt up!

It could be argued that our thoughts are our own voice in our head. Sometimes these thoughts can be quite destructive. I remember a Buddhist monk saying to me a while back,
"try to make your mind your best friend instead of your worst enemy, the mind can be a wonderful servant, or a terrible master."
