Philosophy was more productive when people believed there was a God. One reason why religion stands the test of time.
Whereas Meism in most people is simply their natural, lazy and default. It's untrained. It's meaningless self-gratification. It's the way of the animal. Meists don't have higher ideals and even if when do they don't have the substance to achieve them. You can criticise religion for its faults, but at least the religious translate their programs into reality.
