"House of the Rising Sun" is Eric Burden & The Animals.
The Animals were a British group which did orignially include Eric Burden and some others of that great group.
Eric B was one who did enjoy/believe a lot of the "Deep South" music and wanted to include its themes in his music. As he did so well.

"House of the Rising Sun" represents the split away from "The Animals."
The Animals were a very, very popular group in the UK in their time. Eric Burden was not the "leader" of The Animals in their orignal form but he did have a good/strong influence on their later direction.
Especially when he wanted to go to the roots of The Animals music. Eirc B was very much into the black-spiritual music as was the original band which had become a more popular/influencing bit at that time. 4 out of 5 members of The Animals band agreed to go to the Deep South to "discover their music." Except the founder of The Animals as he hated flying and would not go.
After the USA trip, the band split and the remebered bit became known as "Eric Burdon & The Animals" resulting in many more great songs.
