Lookin4missright: Sorry

Smiley was one of the great Protest songs. Listening to it again reminded me why I have never liked midnight oilscum.

For many of the "We do know all about it" generation, please be aware that conscription never had Aussie 19 year olds in Vietnam. Okay, there were a few of those who had volunteered who went but ....... you had to be 20 just to be able to have a chance at a winning (????) ticket. Then it was a bit of training before any consideration was given to "active service."

The oilscum lost me when they tried for the political hype without really looking at what happened at the time. Add on to this with Garreting later becaming a la-boring environment minister who over-ruled Tassie la-boring Govt to allow Gunn's to mega-cropping of dreamtime forests.

Okay, a few extremely very old tree-cropping areas have been put on hold since the demise of Gunn's caused by Gunn's mega-financed operations based on mega-expansion potential based on Federal La-boring promises of approval subsequently successfully challenged by the combined efforts of the Greens and the Tassie La-boring Govt.

To a few of us on this planet it is aimed at a time of peace.

During the Great War, World War One, WWI as some know it, there came a time where it had transcended to December 25 in places of the European conflict where aparrently there were a few soccer games played across No Mans Land on this day but no results were recorded.

It is understood that about 12 months after the initial recorded occurence, there was a Directive from the British War Office that "such games are considered to be fraternising with the enemy and appropriate action will be undertaken against those that do participate."

There are 3 days of the established week that are considered "holy" by the main but different "religious" groups.

Unfortunately,

- Friday means a lot to footballers irrespective of someone elses religious beliefs

- Saturday also means that those who do work can have a day off from work (and religious religion), while

- Sunday means "we can put on our Sunday best and drown out sorrows because we are unable to enjoy anything beyond a few quiet ales down at the local. Or with the family.
