I love architecture and mega structures.Recently Turkish President has moved to his newly build massive 1000 room presidental palace which is named Ak Saray( White Palace).
At first glance it didnt look too attractive to me.Its not as beautiful as Versallies but it has its own Ottoman style architecture.
I wonder what for will be used all those 1000 rooms.
What do you think?

Well, he could buy 1,000 school girls from Boco Haram and give each one her own room. This way he can provide entertainment for visiting ISIS fighters and radicalized Algerian Frenchmen who are freely passing through his country en route to and from Syria and Yemen.

Oh no wait, he has to save 3 rooms, one for his wife, one for his sister, and one for his daughter. These could be called the "Honeymoon Suites".

Wrong accusations my friend.
First of all Turkey never pays for hostages and never negotiating with terrorists. Also Turkey has nothing to do with Boko Haram or whatever other terror organisations.
Secondly There are more support to ISIS from west than from Turkey.turkey clearly is against ISIS and terrorism.

Third accusation about letting the terrorist pass through Turkey is the funniest and stupidest accusation by French goverment and western society. How come that terrorist left French borders at first place? How did she came to Turkey? So France lets a terrorist to leave the country then accuses Turkey for letting her to pass?doh laugh

haha Conrad.
Even if this myth is true ,whats bad in it?European countries united in EU.Why it would be so bad if Middle Eastern countries got United?Oh yeah,in that case USA and West would lose its power on this countries and they could not come and invade them whenever they liked.Actually a new Chalifat under the Turkey ,wouldnt be a bad idea for the world cos finally there would be peace in the middle east.

And Secondly, the myth of Erdogan wants to build a chalifat is the wetern propaganda.

we got it from the Horse's Mouth!
Even got him a Jail-sentence!

Erdogan himself fell foul of the military in the years before his election and served a jail term for publicly reciting a verse declaring "The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets" - words considered by a court to be incitement to religious militancy.

Erdogan once said that democracy for him is a bus ride. “Once I get to my stop, I’m getting off."

"...Sprawling over 91,000 square meters (22.5 acres) inside the Ataturk Forest Farm in west Ankara, the 1,000-room building, inspired by Seljuk architecture, is equipped with extensive security systems: bunkers, tunnels against chemical attacks, high-tech defenses against cyberattacks and espionage, “deaf rooms” with no electrical outlets to fend off bugging attempts and an underground “war room.” A three-floor residence, absent in the original plan, was added to the complex for the Erdogan family.

I dont see anything wrong what he said long time ago.Other countries leaders sent much more offending messages toward others since that time. No one is perfect and those 2 sentences said buy him doesnt mean he is going to conqure the world or build a caliphate. As i said its a myth and propaganda created by west around him.

lifeisadream: Then you should take singing classes.

Tomcat singing,
And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountain green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.

If we are talking about the mess in the world today then Erdogan is the last leader in the world has anything to do with.
Its funny that people dont put so much blame on the leaders that invade others terretories, starting wars and killings of innocent people, but focusing on person that havent done any of the above.

IN YALAZA, a remote mountain village near the town of Lice, the seeds of a “free Kurdistan” are being sown. A “popular council” vetted by rebels of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) will soon launch Turkey’s first school offering education in the Kurdish language. Last summer Yalaza’s fields were carpeted with cannabis. They are now filled with tobacco and other legal crops after the PKK outlawed the booming drug trade. “Yalaza will be a model commune for all of Kurdistan, the state cannot set foot here,” says Serdar Celik, a villager who seems to be in charge.

On the main road from Lice to Diyarbakir, the PKK’s star-emblazoned crimson flag is hoisted less than a kilometre away from a Turkish army checkpoint. It marks the entrance to several makeshift camps housing Kurdish activists, mostly women. Fehime Ete, who has a husband and two sons in jail on charges of separatism and three other sons fighting for the PKK, is typical. All are bent on preventing the construction of two army bases, which they say demonstrate that the ruling Justice and Development (AK) party is not sincere in its latest peace talks with the imprisoned PKK leader, Abdullah Ocalan.

There is a mess in every place Leo even here blues and every leader has his/her dark side, their wrong doing. If you can not see any thing wrong with Turkey’s President you might be biased yet others will ensure he has done only wrong and that is from narrow minded people.

I'm not a fan of Erdogan, but other politicians have their bunkers as well. In the US, they are only elected for a maximum of 8 years, so any glory they get is short lived. Elsewhere, politicians in power get to enjoy the lavish lifestyle a lot longer. I was in Ankara and actually know where this is (haven't seen it in this glory though).

Erdogan's politics.. well, he's in bed with us actually but he made it clear that he'd rather be allied with the middle east. That's okay, but that also means that he shouldn't join the EU. Can't have it both ways even though he tries hard to be the east-west power broker.

Hello.
The palace is nice, if we talk "only" about the palace or his architecture. Does Turkey need that? I don't think so. The Dolmabahce Palace is also great and "real".....unfortunately nobody take care about this historical palace. The daily cost of this new one is something around 1 Million TL!! If you ask people living in Turkey.....better don't ask them because they will tell you about all the corruption of the actual government and that all prices rises and nobody ask them and and and and. UPS....maybe I will be taken tomorrow and the prosecution: Terrorist! This is the fact of the present Turkey. It is not allowed to say anything against the actual government. Hmmm.....what is 1 M Turkish Lira every day if you hide hundreds of Million Euro in cash under your bed......and you have the power to change the actual legal system so nobody will convict you.
It make no sense to compare "leader" from different countries when the countries don't have the same basis. The time in Germany I saw the government in Turkey as "modern", good...etc. Since I'm here I see how it works and the last 2-3 year the whole world can see it.
