That's always a problem, I find - personally I prefer to see the person I am talking to - it avoids any awkward situations later if it results in being asked out; if I am not attracted to someone visually, then it will not go any further for me. Sorry, but that's the truth. The eyes eat first.
So if you have a pic up, and people are NOT talking to you in a conversational manner, that makes them shallow and not worth wasting your time on. Chat is free.
However, if you do have a pic up, and someone declines a date with you when you ask, you just have to understand you won't appeal to everyone. No one appeals to everyone, trust me.

I said to my son other day I didnt want to go to the shop as I looked in the mirror and went yuk ,the state of me,I need my hair done bla bla bla,was just one of them days,

My point is its how you feel about yourself that counts,,sometimes people look better in real life than a pic and that's because beauty is in the eye of the beholder ,
Not everyone likes putting up pics on date sites and will send one in private,
Anyway I know loads of people who wouldn't be classed as good looking but they act in a manner like they are and have high standards ,
Think more of yourself and don't point out the negatives ,think of positive things about yourself,

Dont let it get you down fella, this place has its uses, and the forums is a good stating point....
if you hold your own in here then theres a chance youll move onto messaging, even if its not through chatting with forum members, people read the forums but dont get involved a lot of the time, but curiosity is piqued and messages will be sent...crikey, its even happened to me, and tbh, im nothing to write home about, but hey, they liked what i was writing....
be yourself, dont be a tragedy case with a ton of issues, that dont go down well, here or anywhere else, get involved, and be lucky...

I decided to give this another go but without a poc as I want people to talk to me and like me for who I am. Met a few NICE people here, had some great chats and conversations. I send a poc in email or ecard, so soon as my pic is seen I get ignored from then on and all contact is stopped. What ever happened to a message to say " sorry, i dont think this can go any further ". Or " sorry, I want to look around a bit more first ".
