dunno paws, i kinda like the physical form, i enjoy all the sensations it gives, sight, sound, smell (but not the dogs), taste, and the thing of legacy, the good we can do while were on this little planet...

With that I whole heartedly agree hug
Although it is a bitter pay off...
I realized early already when I started in this world that just by being here, I also bring devastation. Part of having a physical form among other physical forms, I guess blues

I tend to be more a creature of the mind, annoyed and bored even by having to eat and what not. Mundane stuff can get me despairing uh oh

So yes, sorry, find me as a speck drifting among dark energy next time round laugh

'If only' are words I rarely use.

Because most of the things we want are within our grasp if we really want them.
Whether it is a holiday, a better job etc., all these things are do-able if we set our minds to it.

As for the things I can't influence, I don't bother saying the 'if only' , as it won't help me in the slightest!cartwheel

But "if only" has gotta be the motivation. ..?

tbh with you molly, i have the 'importants' in life, great family and friends, a job i love and one that im as good at as im suited to it, shelter, clothes and food in my belly...
the magic bullet is time, not enough to use the things id like to have to do the things id like to do....
dont get me wrong, im not living a life of regret (bursts into a chorus of 'my way'), but i am going to have to face facts, the learning process is slower by far than ever it was....
the map of usable skills is changing out there, and what passed for as usefull 30 yars ago is old hat at best, and obsolete at worst...
time is the enemy, but would i have done it differently if the chance were to become available...sure, lets build a time machine and see...laugh

I know where you are coming from.

But I know with me, for example, if I said - If only I had studied actuarial science, and studied it hard instead of socialising, I would now be rich and retired early and living in my villa in Spain.

But the simple fact is, I would have hated actuarial science, and working as an actuary, no matter how much I had earned.

Plus, I would never have studied that hard anyway, so it is a moot point as I said!

HOWEVER, If I did desperately want to become an actuary, even now, there would be nothing to stop me going back to study it.

So 'if only' would then just be a cop-out grin

But I can reflect and go forward,

ok so, how would i reconcile something like my own big 'if only'?...
no prizes for guessing, music, like the song said, 'music was my first love and it will be my last', the thing of not finding the thing that is, until were well set on the treadmill of life, now im not whining, but it would have been easier to learn music at school when my brain was in its malliable and sponge like state, rather than discover a need to read music a the age of 35...byproduct, i have a very good trained ear and better than average improvisational skills, but ask me to read music and you might as well ask me to eat a whole lion in one sitting...and thats just the music....
the changing face of business pretty much dictated that sooner rather than later, my work skills were going to be 'under the microscope', old dog, new tricks springs to mind, so, in a roundabout way, my if only's are the fallout of happenstance....
right, upward and onward....lets make curry like the other fellas do!, i mean, how hard can it be.......laugh

Not sure I am getting you with useful skills. What are you referring to blank? And if anything, I find I learn faster now, weirdly enough. Think it has to do with the fact that I am more relaxed and less bothered. If I want to learn something, it happens much faster, tis just that I will have none and nothing telling me now what I have to learn, it's my choice instead, screw the system snooty laugh

@ molly
Liked what you had to say a lot. Anything I really want to do as in it is actually possible in this reality, I sure will do if it is high enough on my agenda (Paris Dakar on a dirt bike at 70 earth years is still on the list! motorcycle). What stops people tends to be their own mind set. Things that are not doable in this reality, well.. let's wait and see what happens here after grin

@ blank
I was taught how to read music over and over from an early age (I take it we talk notes on paper here?) and it would NEVER sink in, black dots on some piece of paper with lines are indeed just black dots on a piece of paper with lines for me. My brain can not wrap itself around the abstractness of that, and quite possibly your brain is the same. Then it's our brains, not age/time, and hello fellow brain I'd say hug
