Kids these days are now all over Snapchat and Kik. Firefox knows that, so want to get people back to use it. Given FF is getting more bloated these days, it's losing the browser dominance over it.
Some of the videos generated can be quite realistic. I had a trial of a bit of kit that made a virtual me on my screen, and it could do whatever I wanted it to do, and even chat! I just had to move in front of a sensor in order for it to take action on screen.

Recording the skype has been around for over a decade. So too have fake video chats. Where the man you talk to uses a video of a young woman to pretend it is him. Old tricks. Just harder to detect or block with the newer technology.

sorry to carry this on but I was just reading it and it made me think of this question...
if scammers can use a different persons picture or video and make it do things asked of it.. like if I was to ask someone on skype to touch their nose whilst sticking their tongue out to prove it's them.. then how, can online daters ever know if the person they are building a trusting relationship with is ever going to even exist..
I guess if you are in a long distance relationship online to garantee you don't get scammed for money... never give them any.
That just leaves your heart they can break... scammers suck.
next question... how do you trust someone who you've only known online?

The most common way to get people to prove it's them.
If they refuse a shoe, because it's dirty, then a slice of bread will do.
