I watched a fascinating show last night on CNN called The Wonder List With Bill Weir.
As most Greek stories go, the island got it's name about a boy who fell from the sky. His name was Ikaria. The fisherman who found him named the island Ikaria.
People on this island live to be so old they say that they forgot to die. They live on the Mediterranean diet of fruit, vegetables, fish and minimal meat.
Truly a beautiful island and very beautiful, friendly people.

That is truly amazing and it's a place I would consider living in not so much to live to 100 but just the serenity and beauty is enough to make it worthwhile. Thank you for sharing that.

I think the secret to them living a very long life is the island is stress free. Of course their diet makes a big difference but these people don't worry about anything.
Some of them wanted the American dream and they moved here only to find that within six months they were getting sick. They moved back to Ikaria and were illness free and happy.
The water is the most beautiful blue I've ever seen.

No or little stress, diet and lifestyle would play a huge part in their longevity for sure. I guess the folks that moved realized that the grass wasn't as green as they thought it would be on other side of the fence.
