Its a funny thing but if i am asked " would you change how life went or would you do anything different?" All i can take is have you learned any bloody thing ?
I do not know how any advise would help. Going back 20 years how could we possibly preparefor the changes that came.

As kids we are primed for an expected process; school and job or school, college and career with marriage and family thrown in there as a given. I really don;t know how we can prepare kids to deal with the unexpected other than to expose and explore options with them
