Ok so you want to meet someone who lives far away from you for a first date..well is it unreasonable to suggest meeting halfway?
seems I've come across a few women who are too lazy to meet half way but will happily let you drive hours to meet them..why?

I think meeting half way is the decent thing to do if both parties drive, if not then like someone else said maybe train or bus. if none of them , get someone closer to home rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

baldydude: think for most woman a lot of that has to do with feeling safe, the closer to home you are the easier it is to get out of a awkward situation with fam n friends close by, i mean lets face it, there's some right weirdo's on these sites

i dont mind traveling for a first meet, but if there's going to be a 2th or 3th meet etc there has to be a mutual middle ground where both party's make the effort

yeah there's just as much weirdo women as there are men on these sites so it works both ways..I've met some psychos from dating sitesireland

stanley8m: I wouldn't meet her in my hometown, or even think about bringing her here until I see her first. Imagine having some minger walking into the local pub and wrapping herself around you.

So true, I went for a second date once in the town where I lived. (I had met him half way the first date and he seemed reasonably well turned out). He wore runners that were not only Adidas but also in blue and orange.

Oh, how delightfully pleb can one get. I hope he didn't have the Adidas Stripe tracksuit to match? That would def entail a quick escape methinks. laugh

A lovely man came by boat over from Fishguard to meet me ,

Then he took train from rosslare to town to meet me ,

He arrived at 6 am in rosslare, and I met him at 11 ,o'clock in town that morning,

We had a brilliant day together ,showed him the hook lighthouse, ferricarick,we went for dinner and that night the cinema,

Was like 3 dates in one,

A really lovely man don't think ill come across anyone as nice and friendly as he was,

Yes it was lovely , ah I should have stayed in contact with him as he was going to come over again and me go over to him when I had the time,

I told him be best if we didnt because of the distance and I couldn't see a future to it and I was busey with courses and work at time,

He is the one that got away,

He sent me cards to say how great the day was,

We visited loftus hall and all,we had good laugh and a good snog,

We have that day to remember,

wine

I have both met people halfway, or gone to their hometown, and they came here.
It's not a biggie either way. Just whatever suits both.

well its a biggie for me cause its a first date..no point driving for 2 hours to find out that you don't really like the person at the end of it all..that would be a wasted journey and if you did that frequently enough it would hit your wallet hard..ok if you've met a few times already and you like each other then yeah I'd drive the 2 hours no botherireland
