I have been in touch through here (and at some real-time meetings) with a few people I would call "honest" on how they express themselves.

Sometimes, some people on here are only "honest enough." Okay, I honestly believe I am God's gift to women .... not really but I do believe I have been honest in what I have expressed.

I did manage to go along and participate/join in a local Mens Shed. Okay, it was only really having breakfast once a week with a few other deros guys. Around last December I was told that come February they would be doing up the Shed and being "on the go."

Come March and I am heading off for a few weeks and nothing has changed. Get back and stuff has started to move to doing up the place.....we have an 80 year old programming the works, a chippie with mental issues doing the work, and a Downs Syndrome guy assisting.

The Mens Breakfast averages 25 each week for the free meal but they are too busy chasing up their next free meal to help making this workshed into something worth coming to.

Member #23 does not realise he does not have to do anything to get his free meal.....although he usually has about 4 meals.

But give him his dues, he is not the brightest spark in the sprectrum but will do stuff when he is asked.

2 weeks ago, I sat opposite 2 guys who complained because there was "only pancakes for breakfast." Okay, I did provide the fresh lemons and the jam.

Last week, 2 different guys complained because we had PASTA BAKE. Okay, I did provide the Sweet Chilli Sauce which I was lucky to a get a bit of.

I think that many people (maybe even myself included) are honestly deluded about themselves. Each of us humans have this tendency to see the faults in others, and skillfully gloss over, deny, and be blinded to our own.

We each think that we are honest, or that we are 'good' people. And this is always true to a degree (some more than others).

I've been reading your continuation remarks, and what's gets me is that people like those freeloaders you describe, are partly to blame, and partly not.

From my perspective, being forced to so labour to get the dole is something that should have an outcome that leads toward meaningful employment. After all, the dole is an allowance to keep one alive while looking for work, that's all. But if people are having to work, just to get this allowance, and the work is not meaningful leading towards employment, why would one exude motivation?

Then there is the other side of the coin. Scumbags that steal do so without real consequence in this society. This leads younger people (who receive no discipline from their parents or authoritative institutions growing up - schools, etc) to develop a completely dishonest lifestyle because there was and is no real consequence to be that way in our society.

After all, the dole is an allowance to keep one alive (sorry, but the $250 per week I get after 45 years of working and paying taxes does not equate) while looking for work, that's all.

But if people are having to work, just to get this allowance, and the work is not meaningful leading towards employment, why would one exude motivation? If I can manage to do volunteer work for the 7 hours to get $250, I am willing to do some real work a few more of these days if they pay me $250 for each 7 hours.

Was reading good advice in today's newsletter addition of Wind-S.
The answer to an inquiry (not mine) went like this:
Yikes! I don't want to discourage you, Robert, but you're facing a huge and difficult task.
Most likely, the critical .exe and .dll files provided by the printer manufacturer are proprietary; you'll have no access to the compiled source code or its documentation. (Compiled code can be reverse-engineered, but it's usually a long and expensive process.) In other words, you'll be wading in blind. You'll have to figure out, on your own, how the code is structured, how and where different functions are implemented, and so on.
You probably won't even know what programming language was used to create the original drivers. It was probably C or C++, but it might have been C# or .NET Framework or Visual Basic or some other language — or even a combination of several tools.
If you're lucky enough to get the drivers' code into an editable form, you'll then have to determine what made the code incompatible with newer Windows versions. Finally, you'll have to write new code to restore the features you want.

Myself i worked that out in about ten minutes a week ago, and promptly jumped onto eBay purchased an Oki LED Light printer to replace the Laser Xerox i had much loved.

Nothing like good honest advice

After quite a number of weeks trying to get this "Mens Shed" to have insulated walls and a decent coat of paint over an old Council Depot Shed, it is nearing completion.

Okay, some of the people who are supposed to get signed off for their "charity work" have managed to show up and spend a little bit of time helping out in the work.

Okay, I am a bit of a slacker and only spend around 6 hours a day helping out.......uuummmmmmmmmm.......30 hours a week...............OMG, I should be claiming this charity work so I do not have to do "job-seeking."

I spent yesterday helping out and had a "call-out" to pick up some donated beds from a nearby suburb.

Okay, it was 2 suburbs over. 25 minute drive just to get there. 2 old farts then having to get the 2 bases and a torn mattress downstairs into the van (it costs $45 to dispose of a mattress/base through the local tip).
