How many thousands of users here get emails from person's claiming they are in Europe, Asia or the Mid East only to find out later to learn the account information is bogus and actually we talking about some dude in Nigeria or Ghana taking advantage of the gaping holes in CS security?

My suggestion is simple. When a user connects to CS the computers keep a record of the ISP. Why not configure CS email so that when an email is sent the recipient receives all the usual information, but also, the ISP being used by the sender for the connection.

If the reason this has not been done yet is a concern for privacy, the solution is simple. Just replace the last 3 digits with an X. So the number (for instance) becomes 111.111.111.xxx That preserves anonymity while at the same time chopping the scammers and psychos off at the knees.

Obviously, some man or woman claiming they are in New York City should not be writing you from ISP 119.74.77.xxx in Singapore.

However, the current CS policy of not providing that critical fraud detecting information allows scammers to operate with virtually no fear of immediate detection as a liar.

Please supply ISPs with all emails. Blocking the last 3 is fine. Just let us see the truth about where they really are.

There should be a system/procedure to discourage these practices. Since dating sites are becoming more and more popular then those sites should protect the members. I'm aware that on free sites, we cannot demand much from them, but they are generating funds from advertisements, otherwise, by logic, they don't exist. The short time i was here, there are more negative remarks than possitive ones, and i don't have doubts it's the same case all over. It saddened me to read innocent, young, serious ladies with all their sincere hopes being fooled & played with.
I was once fooled too but not of much damage,, a man from California,, with a boat, a tempting smile and tempting income too, said he will be having butterflies on the stomach the time he will be at the airport to fetch me. I asked him if the famous "ROAD 66" arrives to his place ,, he was asking me what is that road ,, funny!!!
I think & i believe, if we are not clever enough and have a litle knowhow, we get screwed everytime. So let's be careful.
And going back to that system, i think it's high time for sites to take that seriously, if not everybody is a potential swindler or a potential victim, it would no loger be a dating site but a DANGER SITE

There is another forum to which I belong, where the IP address is not shown, but the country of origin is displayed at the top of email pages and under the persons name in the forum, I have to admit that if that site can do it, why not this one, it is a very simple addition to the server software, and could really be effective, and as a bonus lift the status of CS among the plethora of dating sites.

Ken I so totally agree if we could have a vote count me in and if many of us agree maybe they can see who doesnt agree and undrstand why so its needed. If i get a mail now adays with one simple thing wrong I just say not compatible bye. Maybe i miss an honest guy that way, but they should check so profile says same as they write. Funny when they say they read my profile and asks for my e-mail, as i clearly say no to that. So think im sorry we cant vote cos imagen if thousand say yes, CS have to do something then.

peace peace peace

rizlared, being new to this, i am not really familiar with those sets ups from forums and other sites, but the fact that there are more and more complains, i think actions should be taken, even just for the principle of protecting potential victims, and yes uplift the image of CS, specially that forum attracted a good audience:handshake

C.S. is banned in a lot of libraries WIFI in the Uk, under the parental control umbrella. Some members were being groomed for nights of passion.

Please don't make this generally known as ther may be a sudden rise in the number of older female members.grin

Ken 19,,handshake thanks for opening this topic, i saw some topics that were just turning around but not directly as this one, and it should be coming from someone that had been a long time member, it's more credible, anyway everybody is concerned, we can always shrugged & say that we're not really looking for a date/relationship ,, but at
least we show concern for innocent ones. There are sites in the web wherein we could verify names and photos and blacklisted scammers,, but not everybody knows that.

If you make an off topic reply to the OP I Hide it. Anyone cares, they can still see it. Do it two or three times and I will just ban you from the thread. I would much rather a short thread with a few relevant replies than a long thread with a bunch off topic stuff. This may bother some, but my reply to them is tough. tip hat
