Obstinance_Works: Hm. Children's early indications far exceed their eventual outcomes as adults. Most times.
Imo most that I've felt were exceptionally gifted have not come to fruition, but those exceptionally educated have. Genetically gifted working class children do not get as far in life as less gifted member of the middle class(particularly those privately-educated).
It's the exceptional upbringing that I see as making the biggest difference. And not only in terms of wealth and quality of education, but the quality and nature of parenting. The more unorthodox the parenting(where the orthodoxy is liberal/modern)the better the performance of the child - both as a child and as an adult.
It is the childs attitude disregarding the upbringing that makes the biggest difference. If the child shows strength of character under poor cir umstances it generally means he will get somewhere. Obviously other factors applies too.

Our political elite is entirely middle class and almost entirely privately-educated. Politics is a great example of my point. Politics which requires socially savvy pragmatists with a strong grip on earthy reality - the best politic is realpolitik - suffers greatly from being a gilded trade of bourgeoisie careerist ideologues. I have known many laypeople whose gifts would make them much better leaders than those that we have, but we'll never know until the final hour.
Obstinance_Works: Power does not exclude manipulation. Manipulation is a necessary component of power. To be successfully pragmatic you need to manipulate the ideologues into the middle ground where reality lies.
The best statesmen is the benevolent Machiavellian as so written in 'The Prince'. The best of us has to manipulate the rest of us. How do you think the rest of us ever climbed down from the trees or came to partake in any of Humanity's greatest achievements? Thanks to the leader, the supreme individual, that's who.
The problem with freedom and equality is that they eventually rob a people of its vision, unity, organisation, enthusiasm and discipline. The vision and ambition of great men to build a society of good, better and best is utterly thwarted without hierarchy. Equality is destined to become mediocrity just as surely as freedom is destined to become chaos.

Ur views r obviously drastically different to mine. I have never in my life looked upto any one or being as a role model. I am just me.!! U do not need a leader if u r one.

Exceptional applies to anyone that have overcome seemingly impossible odds and still made it into someone that has an exceptional story to tell.
Not just people becoming very rich and famous. I don't have much time for people like that anyway. Most don't except if u climb the ladder stepping on heads.
