It may be with some people a lot of their socialising happens online and not only that but have a relationship with the internet others don't have. I and others use it as a tool where some may view it as an integral part of everyday communication.
As for using the ban button although I can't take it seriously here, it denotes a controlling trait.

I have found that when some people ask you for an opinion, what they really want is for you to repeat their own opinion back to them, they seem unable to cope with, or accept, that different people could possibly have a differing opinions from them, and some will go to astonishing lengths to try and prove that their opinion is the only valid to the point of obsession.

People who are comfortable with themselves, confident with who they are, usually have no problem listening to, and taking on board, another's opinion. That's called being a grown up, and being open-minded.
