An interesting article, not sure It convinces me, but I will do some research over the weekend, I just have a problem with comparing cognitive behaviour of humans to rats, but many thanks for posting.

I find this article very convincing, all alternative methods seem to fail in general The fact that we are bonding animals makes sense through many aspects of our life, it is said you need at least one hug a day to remain emotionally healthy. It stands to reason that emotionally deprived people will become addicted to make up for the big hole in their lives left by not bonding with other humans. On a personal level, I gave up smoking with no hardship, and nipped a drinking problem in the bud with no hardship. Don't dismiss these alternative ideas, I think they are on the right track. For once I am serious.

I'm not dismissing anything, I just need to get further details. I have a very open mind towards this kind of research, but as always, there are two sides to everything, a rat may have a far more simpler understanding of like and dislike, humans are never black or white regarding emotions or feelings, some people are gregarious and love attention, other seek solitude and dislike attention, I just fail, at this moment, to see that reproduced in rats.
However, I can see some logic within the premiss, so as I said, further research is something I need to do.

If I had to say something critical, then it's perhaps the notion that we're all "good" by nature. I think we're all self-serving, first. Maybe it's the survival instinct. There have been many experiments of communal living and it is always only a matter of time until things go south over either jealousies or dominance.

I am the only totally altruistic male on CS (true)
It is interesting, willpower, a rich and happy life is a good cure for a lot of addictions - but I do think that there are exceptions (as mentioned in the article as well).
