QUITTING MY JOB (25)

I work in a nursing home I honest to god cant stick it anymore ive tried I really have .I walk in there every day and it,s just depressing me . Everyone is in a bad humor the boss will never change and I mean never . Every day there,s something wrong or sumones called into her office for a grilling . I can only walk down the corridors and there,s either someone giving out or crying there eyes out . Try to help and your at nothing . Staff there 10 years before me get 1st preference over everything holidays days they work where I have to fight for a week end off . The plan is to walk in slam down my termination of contract and walk out staff are leaving everyday I doubht she,ll miss me . oh and go over there head to management your at nothing management only take the sides of current boss cos in her eyes she,s wonderful doing a great job . so can I sign on social welfare immdediately or what I don't think I could stand another week in there.

Can totally understand your frustration & I reckon life`s too short to be miserable in your work, I could be wrong but social welfare or whatever posh new name it has now, are never too happy with you quitting & I think it takes a while before they pay out. I`d send out a few C.V`s , am sure you`ll get something else easily enough in that field. Best of luck with it

Do you not have a union there? if you have get the shop steward on the case.

apologies lassie but i didnt read your full post. will when i get the time. be very careful how you proceed with this. getting welfare can be tricky in these cases. can very much identify with your situation. walked away from my previous job after similar experience. i havent looked back but my termination was a bit different. took redundancy. i will say, when your mental well being is being badly affected from your job, just walk away. but be very careful how you do this. welfare will not make it easy for you. get as much advice as u can before proceeding. dont forget theres always the doctor approach! was only talking to my doc during the week about these kind of problems. i ll read your full post before saying more. best of luck with it
