Draegoneer: It's always been one of my favorite board games. I've let it lapse for many years myself now. I can still remember many games played through the years but the best were always with one uncle in particular. He died quite a while back. I haven't found a regular player since. Not sure I'd be able to invest the time if I did.
Watch closely and you'll begin to see some of the strategies the comp uses. Occasionally, I still play a game on my gaming console.
I am beginning to get warmed up again. I feel more confident playing with the computer now than in the beginning.
One can tell loads about another person when playing chess. It's a great way to compete wits & what makes the game fascinating. That's why playing a computer is ridiculous & takes all the FUN out of it!
I've avoided playing this game for almost 15 years now. My dearest brother and I used to play and had fun but when he was killed, it saddened me to even think of this game because of my memories.
But lately I've warmed up again and yet playing against the computer is not fun. It's torture. Whoever programmed the computer is a genius. .hard to beat.
All my life I've never delved too far into the computer, so I suppose there is much there I cannot talk turkey on. I do remember an episode of 'Star Trek' in the 1960's, where Mr. Spock is playing chess with the computer. (He loses). Captain Kirk ribs him a bit, remarking that it escapes him how Mr. Spock's advanced intellect can have a loss occur, since the computer program must be created by humans. Dr. Spock replies that, though that is true, the computer can also gather and glean every possibility in a chess game, (in a mere split second) and thus, by default of rapidity, win. (That's why even simple games like solitaire and Chinese Tiles are seemingly difficult to win: the computer "sees" so rapidly, you can't keep up with it).

ahhh the game of chess I have loved the game for many years, but could never find people to play with after 2009? My good friend was so good and cool, a brilliant engineer mensa dude,im sure it was a game of snap for him, but he silently taught me, rocketing through much good whiskey. The whole ambiance of playing can be very cool.
