evergreen8991: Just curious as to what people believe should be a set of appropriate rules or etiquette on the internet.
I have a hard time with people that just disappear after appearing so interested. I have never just vanished. I explain that we may not be a match.
I guess I am old school and I am starting to feel that the internet is not a place for some of us with a sensitive heart?
What do you think?
Also besides the scammers, I think a person should want to write, call or Skype is that wrong?
The pictures presented on the internet should not be 2, 5 or 10 years old. If you have put on 50 pounds it is disingenuous to hide that fact.
What do you think should be added?
I do not think that some people realize there is a human with a heart and a soul that can be hurt by their comments and behavior.
Well Evergreen, in my opinion you made a big mistake in your profile by writing everything about yourself. You didn't leave any mystery about yourself for a woman to want to meet you. I'm not saying you should lie, just don't spill all the beans on the internet. Go back and edit your profile to say just enough to get someone interested in you.
Oh, by the way, you wrote the same thread four times. That's a no-no.
As far as scammers, edit the locations you are only interested in meeting someone from.
The rules on the internet are the same rules if you were to meet someone in person for the first time. Also, Connectingsingles has their own set of Rules. You'll find them on the home page.
You are right, there are certain people on the internet that don't care if you have a heart. Two of them emailed me recently. When I rejected them they threw all kinds of insults towards me. It didn't offend me cause I've been on this site for about nine years so I'm tough as nails when it comes to insults. If you are extremely sensitive, dating sites might not be the right place for you.
I would suggest that you not try to hard to find someone right now but instead go in the forums and respond to posts in the threads on subjects you have an opinion on. That way women will get to know you and you'll be able to see how they think.

Everything you are saying is true, I agree 100%. I've approached this subject many times. I really believe it is one of those things people won't realize, as you do, until it's too late. Recently I was in several cosmopolitan airports, and noticed the way almost everybody was just walking blindly, earphones embedded, talking, texting, not noticing the world around them or even stopping to take in something beautiful or interesting. I found it so depressing. I live very simply, I do use technology, but avoid it for superfluous activities. I do not like what I am seeing these days. Best I can do is continue to live in the country and know, inside myself, that I am not buying into a bunch of crap. JMO
