My Boy (103)
I'm surrounded by cats and dogs and I wouldn't have it any other way

serene56: This Saturday just gone, 4 July, I lost my best friend.
My little Maltese dog, Ben.
We had a wonderful life, growing older together, we moved from place to place, spent our mornings walking, hanging out and viewing life with similar points of view.
We spent the last 13 and a half happy years together, he supported and cared for me through heartache and loss and I supported and cared for him through his latter difficult years with ill-health.
He let me know during a long, cold difficult Friday night that he had had enough, I let him know that I understood, I talked, cuddled and smiled at him through the night.
Nursed and cuddled him at the vet's the next morning as he departed this world.
Tomorrow he will depart for his final journey, to be cremated, his ashes I will scatter around the lake that we loved walking together for all those years.

I'm seeing the changes in him, he's much calmer and understands our daily routine, he's more beautiful than ever and I love him to bits
I bought him a couple of new toys lately as he seemed to be bored with his old ones
But since, I've realised that he's getting to be a big boy and toys aren't so important any more sighhh...
