Do you experience high levels of anxiety when you're around a potential partner or boyfriend/girlfriend? How do you cope? Does it change for you over time?
I feel nervous almost all the time to where I feel sick. It makes hanging out a constant internal battle and I'm sure it shows. Sometimes I even worry when I try to connect with people online.
Oddish: Do you experience high levels of anxiety when you're around a potential partner or boyfriend/girlfriend? How do you cope? Does it change for you over time?

It is normal to feel a bit of nervous anticipation, but not to the point of what you are saying. Sounds like fear imo. Once you remove fear what is left is courage.

I used to be the same way, but with time, I developed some strategies that took care of that fear.

Anxiety can be a monstrous thing, ive suffered with it for most of my adult life, not as bad now as it once was,but still can be extremely sickening.
Make a promise to yourself to tackle it head on and to beat it,,easier said than done but you have youre whole life in front of you, make a doctors appointment if needs be,but do something.. It wont go away by itself.. There are medications that are very effective,,but generally they can be addictive and only mask the problem. Good luck to you however you deal with it..
uptall: Well that maybe but how do you stop yourself laughing
It's summer, I don't wear socks and if you were here now you'd see just black boxers
Laughing and smiling is good. That is another of the strategies. Laugh...it puts your date immediately at ease and smooths through those first anxious moments.

OMG, It gets better with age. You can learn behavioral techniques. Like grounding. By maybe rubbing your fingers along the table or your shirt. A little rock in your pocket. It takes a while. A few deep breathes. Then this grounding technique , it like brings you more mindful in the present , not in your head. being anxious. You are very pretty. Relax, any one will see you are a great person. If you are anxious ,just explain. We have all been there. It really shows when you explain that you are probably a very open , sensitive person. Also you could be feeling the energy of a person is not right for you. Keep trying. I did not know when I was younger, I now know, more about trusting my instincts. I trust my intuition how my body feels. Hope you feel better soon. PEACE HH
uptall: Looks like you're well on your way to success
I am an introvert, shy, and suffer from anxiety. When I first started dating, I was a wreck, just like the OP describes. It took some time and developing coping strategies.
