This year I finally managed to get away for 70 days. It was a well-planned trip....up along the right-hand side but not on the coast, turn left for a bit then back down. Originally all the way around but delays thanks to the doctor, dentist, mechanics, bank and Aust Post meant I got away 2 months later than I wanted.

Beginning of June (not April as I intended) saw me catch up with my brother at is farm near Mittagong NSW.

After catching up with my grandson (okay, the 11 month old did have his parents there) I headed up northwest of Sydeney and helped out a mate pick p aother Lad Rover for his collection

Not bad panels for a rising 60 year old . Does it still have a standard motor ? A lot here had 186 Holden engines put in them .

I left my mate's place just off the Putty Road out of Sydney and went through Tamworth (since copped heaps for not contacting any f the dozen or so I know there) and camped out at Blue Rock Dam. Nice spot but very foggy the next morning ---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

And then headed for Texas. stayed here 2 years ago and found it very relaxing.

I had the vehicle decked out for a remote trip last year but got mucked up by my little heart scare and did not go.

I stopped sometimes for 1 night or sometimes for a few days. A lot depended on the view. This one meant I had to climb up the dam wall.

I managed to get up to Normington as I have always wanted to ride on the Gulflander Train from Normington to Croydon. As it only does the trip once a week, I thought I better get there early to book a seat.

It was an experience ........ I would only recommend the full 130km trip (felt like 1,300miles)............okay, it was an experience that I have wanted to do. I would suggest to non-train buffs one of the many shorter runs available if they want to have some experience of this unique railway.

On the much positive side, I did manage to get to Leichhart Falls for a few days and loved the spot.

I recognise the series I, but what is the tow vehicle? confused

Glad you got away, sounds like a great trip around the country. I've been away from home too, but for work and cleaning up details, as well as dealing with family stuff, not for fun. mumbling
