KarloradoFL: I posted it because of the song Portabello Road which is a street in London that is like a flea market and has many thrift and antique stores as well as used book stores. The song is about the selling of thrift and other used things. Unfortunately I could not find the clip of this song in the movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks which takes place on the cobblestoned street and has a nice choreographied show. I did not post it because of the cartoon picture of Angela Lansbury riding on a broomstick. I did find this version in spanish:

Karlo,, nice video, regarding flea market, it's surprising what we could find and discover there, from where i am, it's sort of a way of life and a tradition, i feel it's just a change of ownership of those beautiful, old and legendary treasures, passing from one's house to another, i could not even consider it a trift market on the sense that we always end up buying what we don't really need, it's a pleasure and at the same time a temptation coz some objects are really exceptional, we have lot of flea markets here,,we could spend a whole day just admiring/learning.

Dragos1: Maybe it was a place that I saw a possibility of some bit of magic some years ago. Currently I would compare it more to that of a "thrift store", sometimes known as a "second hand store". A place where it might seem pretty good but you will have to go home and see if all the parts are there and working correctly....Or maybe plug it into the wall to see if the electrical does not have a short. And many times when you leave you just want to get home so you can wash your hands or maybe just wash anything you were wearing. LOL!!!! Not any sign of candy that I have seen that actually tastes sweet. But then sometimes someone throws out something nice and you can give it some TLC and it won't cut you. Or maybe that is just wishful thinking.

...laugh

I've called it the discount bin before, but I like your analogy much better.

Well done.

There is a nice Flea and Farmers Market in the town I live ii once a week at the fairgrounds. It's a pretty good size one. The Farmers Market is in the front and you can buy some pretty low price produce from the local farms in Central Florida. Lots of tomatoes and strawberries from Plant City. In the very back you have the rummage sale items and in the middle you can get cheap dry goods. You can also buy items like day old bread and canned goods past their sell by date.

In Daytona there is a huge covered flea market every weekend. It takes a few hours to see it all. My town also has several thrift stores. A Goodwill, one run by the local Habitat for Humanity, one by a home for the developmentally disabled, one run by the Catholic Church, one by a group that shelters battered women and children, and a few small independent ones.

Flea Markets here will have venders setting up outside in their parking lots and as you have already mentioned I can find veggies, fruit, baked goods etc. There are even some food venders who sell food too.
