Being one of the now involved with Federal Govt policies of "working for the dole" (not allowed to call it "The Dole" now) and finally signed up to do 15 hours per week volunteer work (I have been doing this since March without telling Centreunlinked) to receive my New Start Allowance (I am not new out of school or fresh off the boat so I do feel insulted by this)I have managed to ear some interesting stuff.

The "well-informed" have told me that Abbott only programmed for 12,000 refugees per year. A week later, an Abbott news conference said that approval had been given for 12,000 Syrian refugees to be processed into Australia.......

MY understanding is that the Federal Government makes a Budget Forecast of 12,000 refugees per year something like 15 years ago......okay, this may be a bit old but normal statistical progression would see this around 30,000.

This "refugee" intake is part and parcel of the legitimate immigration intake and has been aimed at around 10% (okay, the figures are 10-15 years old but the percentages should not differ that much). This is aimed at the majority of migrants having a positive impact on our society and basically supporting the non-productive migrants.
