Statistics shows that thousands die if influenza each year.
Seasonal FLU activity occurs between October to May.
Despite the encouragement from the health authorities as a preventive measure, still a lot don't got vaccinated.
For what reason? why still a lot refuse such vaccine?
Now is the right time to get vaccinated, are you convinced of it's efficacity ?
Have you been seriously sick of flu? and been hospitalized ?
Is there any other alternative as a preventive measure aside from a vaccine. Share your experience ,,

Health isn't a priority for many people so they'll either forget, not bother, or be squeamish around needles.

How effective the vaccine is depends on the patient, but I can't imagine efficacy would drop beneath 50%. Alternatives include avoiding crowded areas or even avoiding human contact altogether.

Or building up your immune system through healthy living, thus avoiding the flu totally, or being able to fight it off efficiently if one does get it.

Exactly. Live and stay healthy. We do not LIVE forever....something is always trying to take us out,....all a person can do is try their best to stay as healthy as possible in an attempt to resist the multitude of vectors trying to recycle us! But,...eventually, we all must shed our mortal coil.

When I was working in a healthcare facility, it was mandatory for medical staff who performed direct patient care to get the flu vaccine due to the types of illnesses and age of the patient population in the facility. Many of the doctors and nurses would refuse the vaccine and ran the risk of not getting paid if they are off work due to the flu. They had their reasons for refusing...some because of allergies to the ingredients in the vaccine's preservative. I was ordered by a neurologist not to get the flu vaccine due to thimerosal (mercury) that is present in the preservative. Any of the healthcare workers who had medical reasons to not get the vaccine were offered Tamiflu tablets at the onset of any flu symptoms and sent home with pay until deemed clear to return to work.

Hi D! Hope all is well!

As much as I would like to get in a thimerosal debate now...I shall not (ethyl versus methyl mercuric compounds,....neurological toxicity,....etc, etc....pharmacological versus environmental concentrations,...all WAY TOO boring stuff for a rocking singles site!) laugh hug

Hiya Moose wave

All is good and hope you're doing well too!

I put a lot of thought into whether or not I would elaborate on the thimerosal in my post and decided it was best to state the basics...safer that way me thinks. laugh hug

I hear you! Beyond the "basics" is best left for forums where medically interested and informed lurk....for indeed,...this is a bit of a topic! Heck....I didn't even mention that "autism" crowd,...oops....I am getting close to getting started.

All is well here! Getting too close to winter though (but I hear its been nice and warm out east...)

Hey Stringman.....the YT video appears to be a single doctors concept of what he deems to be the truth. He quotes CDC stats, yet neglects the fact that the CDC PROMOTES vaccination (and are they puppets of the drug companies?) To say few die from the flu rather they die from pneumonia is like saying few die from heroin overdose,...it is the CNS shutdown of the respiratory system or cardiac arrest that kills....and say,...his SAFE UV tanning beds....want to see some videos about that?

Ultimately.....it is a persons life.....choose that which you think is appropriate....unless society deems you to be a threat based on your beliefs and/or actions,.....people like Typhoid Mary,....well....

Some have the tendency to neglect preventive measures, for some other sickness, we could still afford to wait to be treated until we get sick.
In peak season, avoiding a crowd isn't a guarantee, and if you're still in activity you can't avoid such contact.
On the part of the health authorities/collectivity, hospitalization could cost a lot, and on the part of the patient, i know some cases of serious complications out of flu,,and it's sucks your energy.

It is so. Sigh. Fires in AB are pretty much a done deal, but we are still assisting in the NW USA.

Molly, that would be the ideal, that was the most practiced medical philosophy before not much now.
Before, we could count on our immunitary system to fight against viral aggressions, but with the time, this virus had gained force that our system is too weak to combat agains it. We have already heard how it is fatal in some areas.
But yes healthy living could help a lot, even homemade remedies could work at times depending on our metabolism,, cheers to our good health!!

tom,
yes, enourmous efforts and money are alloted to such reseach as it can cause death in a such a short period when it complicates to a certin pulmonary infections,, they are harmful virus that attacks fragile metabolism, epidemic!!! we might not be wrong if we adhere to preventive measures,,, dying in inevitable, but to die in good health and with less pains is still the best,,, cheers !!teddybear
