Well, I only have a small family but to lie to them to get out of being with them? Outrageous! You should relish being in the company of so many people that care about you. Besides, its only once a year!!

My sister was angry at me also....it lasted eight years...since she was my step-fathers child....I was the one uninvited.....didn't matter whose was at fault or anything else....just the facts of life...I'd go anyway.....I wouldn't wish what I went through on anyone...

pretty much, it is a normal function in our family. but it is not my sisters or brother (most of which are step) my mom makes it very difficult and will exclude people and make people feel really really bad about themselves. when i get excluded, i am usually pretty happy but i will feel bad on the inside, it does hurt my feelings. by the way, i was born in St. Ignace.

No, you are not the only person fed up with extended family. However, even still, I go to the family Christmas gathering anyway--despite my feelings. I would not have lied. But the fact that you did was your choice, and I've no right to judge you whatsoever.

At any rate, I do wish you & yours a wonderful Christmas & a fantastic New Year!

cheers

In my house, at any holiday, I have extended family and friends.

It never bothers me at all, and no they do not all get along.

But when they come to my house I expect them to tolerate each other, and everything works out fine.

I don't even need to send out invitations, they already know that my house is the place of comfort during the holidays.
