Yes, Pedro, humans just like all living animals should work to survive,, even climbing on a tree for fruits, for honey,, hunting,, digging for root crops,,

Before the money was created,, we used the thing as the barter system,, what you have in excess you exchange with others for what you need and vice versa,,

In ALASKA, where dollars are rare,, they still use the barter trade for almost everything they consume. Their money is for building materials, fuel, etc,, things they can't produce. And i find it more wise than producing money by any means and to be wasted after.wave

When your wages are a compensation for the life you're sacrificing by being at work(i.e if you're a worker)then in the whole the answer would be no.

If you're a professional and wages are a by-product of your career then the answer would be yes. This is also why I agree with the old-fashioned(pre-boomer)idea that a professional should never be paid overtime.

It helps to have a system of monetary trading, and its always happened in some form, trading beads or food etc.

Imagine an Ireland or World with out such systems, who would pay for the Social Services etc, so the more vulnerable would get looked after in the over all system of caring for those who needed assistance.

Disability allowances and medication for instance ?.

Usually, professionals when they reach to certain rank, they don't have overtime pay anymore. Salary is already high and commensurate to whatever skill they contribute, but bonuses are more interesting than overtime pay.

pedro27: how much is money

Prescriptions use to be free in Ireland i don't know what they cost now.

What do you think Pedro " how much is money " ? if you don't have any money you might be lucky to get your prescription filled. That might be a start on "How much is money"

Yes, for some professions such as doctors, lawyers, and teachers. Not anymore for others. In engineering now it's common for a consultant to be paid overtime. That's why I said never.
