New Government (16)

Well if you haven't heard by now, we now have a new Liberal majority government. I'm not surprised the PC's got the boot but it surprised me how much the NDP lost, I was expecting them to do better but I think a lot of people strategically voted Liberal when it was clear they topped the later polls and was a sure fire way of getting rid of the Tories.

Justin has his chance now, I hope he does good for Canada.

WHAT? No mention of legal pot? WTF? He could easily subsidize his deficit spending by the revenue from legal pot,....by us some new fighter aircraft,....and still have a billion or so extra to kick into infrastructure! Come on JT....you only have 4 years.....

I welcome the New Government.(and yes, I voted liberal.) Canada was due for a change. The only thing I will remember about old sneaky eyes is the Senate Scandal and the way in which he handled it. I honestly believe he knew much more than he was willing to say. Now Justin Trudeau and his party will have to show their worth in running our Country. Best we give them a chance before we start judgement on them. handshake

i was pleased to see the press around the world regarding Trudeau.
and yes, it will take years to undo what Harper has done. i don't think most folks outside the country are aware that Harper did a lot of things that the average Canadian did not support, and did them without the consent of the people.
i'm really hoping that Trudeau makes some BIG changes and quickly.

let's see what happens when the liberal majority returns to the house of commons changes.

Hey Jo hug

I'm just hoping that the Lib's fulfill their campaign promises, and rectify a few of the things the Con's did in their all too long stay in power. They got a little too big for their britches, and obviously, from the election results, they've been sent packing.

I wonder if the paper shredders are going non stop in Ottawa as they were in Alberta when they got tossed out of office. roll eyes

The doors should be locked on the outgoing party, as soon as the results are in. That way "the people" can have a look at what they've had hidden from view for the years they've supposedly "served" us. grin

I also wonder why politicians don't end up in court or jail for their misdeeds, other than the few over the course of history. I could name a few in recent times, as well as many from the past, yet they all walk free, or die free. If it were you or I that committed these crimes, we'd be hanging from the gallows pole. mumbling

It is no surprise to see a majority Liberal government...the negative campaign tactics that the Conservatives employed as well as their fear mongering...to gain votes that perhaps made most people (in my opinion) turned off at the very idea of re-electing them...

I agree, as I posted in, now deleted, thread, the Con's employed an American style campaign and I have no doubt many saw right through it, and were disgusted by it.

This is after all, Canada. canada

Have to agree that both the Conservatives and NDP campaigns were clearly directed at Trudeau to discredit him and frankly I think he took the higher ground. I think the Conservatives fate was sealed before the election started but hey its their own track record that caused their defeat.
Hopefully we'll move forward as a country and we'll be more proactive to participate and keep our voices heard as in the end we are all in this together.

It's about time, "National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls".

I'm so glad that it's finally happening, and makes me wonder why the "Harper Government" did absolutely nothing, even though they spent more than ALL the Liberal governments have in the last 50 years combined, leaving us further in the hole than ever? What is it with far right wing Christians pushing their own agenda above those that they were elected to represent?

How do people like this get to lead a country?

Same for the Bush family in the US, and many other right wing fanatics in politics across the Globe. Why do people elect them, even for more than one term? dunno

He's doing everything right so far.

-gender parity and also ethnic and generational diversity in cabinet
-accepting refugees and accelerating the applications
-reopens Kits Coast Guard (ummm if open would have had faster response to oil spill....thanks Harper
-aboriginal women inquiry (Harper said last year it wasn't on is radar.roll eyes WTF!)
-soon to legalize marijuana

Was happy to see he came to Vancouver for a sit down interview a week before Xmas. Can't even remember a PM even caring to come to BC to do an interview like that.

I have been pulling for Justin since he went into politics. Just hope he doesn't let us down. Anything is better than the right winger Harper.
