Now..........Spain is better than Portugal because iva/vat/btw is the almost the same, rental prices are better in Spain, buying is cheaper in Spain, petrol, and most food is too. The weather is hotter in Spain because it rains a lot in Portugal and Spain has normally the "Gota fria" and it normally is the second or third week in October.

Hm, never thought about Serbia, been to Belgrade only. I guess there must be nice places there, probably similar to Bulgaria, know a Brit that went to live there.
I still think Croatia id nicer, especially the coast - it is not as commercialized as in Spain, Greece, pretty much as the Mediterranean once was - which is what their commercial says.
A particularly nice areas are the little towns near Split, Sibenik and Zadar. Check out the Kornati islands, beautiful!
