I forgot to mention two other games, which I think are just as much used as a social platform, as they are for gaming, and both of these games feature a hugely diverse player community. These games are Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft. Shatner and Ozzy Osbourn both were huge fans of World of Warcraft, just to prove gaming isn't just for 'kids'. You will meet people from all walks of life in games, all age groups, all types of jobs, and males and females alike are represented.

I'd advise anyone to give it a go. Still remember talking to that grandmother who told me her grandkids had gotten her into gaming, and that she had come to outshine them Good for hand eye coordination, trains reflexes, allows social bonding, and is definitely far better for the mind than watching TV
