Hmmm...good post. I'm anxious to see the many different opinions. This is a tough call for me because so many factors play a part in each unique situation. popcorn

I don't think it should ever be endorsed by law, that would set a very bad precedent. Perhaps giving the state a legal means to eradicate the elderly, indigent, and ill.

It should always be up to the individual, and it should be in writing, of some description, of the individual that wants to end their life, for whatever reason. Failing the ability to do this under their own means, then someone either appointed to the, or their legal counsel, with any and every supporting measure should be made, and held, responsible for their decision.

I would never want anyone to ask for their own life to be taken by anyone, without knowing full well that others will ultimately be resposnsible, in one way oe another. I'd like to see the courts ease their responsibility in a number of ways, and also grant they dying their wish, in a dignified manner, that doesn't affect the living in a negative fashion.

It really should be up to the one that wants to end their life, for whatever reason. Others should have no legal means to interfere, let alone the courts. It really is an individual choice.

As euthanasia is just about setting a legal framework to give individuals an option to end their own life.
most often as the medical situation is terminal or with excessive suffering.

In Belgium we are already quite advanced for years. (see euthanasia for children)
I ve heard lots of positive stories, and no excesses.

The only excesses that surface now are from the past when the religious medical care institutes coordinated the killing. (when there were too many sick children for instance, they handled the situation....)

Life is mystery. Pain is part of life. One of the basic rules of life says: "What you cannot give do not take."

We think that WE give birth to children. That this is in our power. But is not true. We are just a tool in scope of life.

Who forget this values...is already lost ... See always in death a solution....
Life may be painful, very painful....but who knows if this pain is not the seed of something more, which we do not understand....

Nobody came back to tell us what is on the other side.... May be is nothing, or better, or worst. Equal what is the truth, one thing is sure, we have to go ouwer entire way until ... the end. Even if is painful.

If I had had listen the doctors (Are very good and useful. I have great respect and am grateful to them), today I would be full of drugs. But crying, daily in the church for years, I found the way, the strength to live without the medicines they told me that I have to take al the rest of my life.

Science is good, is necessary, but does not knows the whole truth. Because humans are just a litle part of the reality.

I wouldn't personally give the "nod" but can understand anyone who has suffered or has no hope of living to be put out of their mystery.. After-all, death is part of life & not many of us get out of it alive.

I some cases, people don't have the choice to decide for themselves, due to their incapacitation,(extreme poor health), to decide for themselves.handshake

Physician-assisted suicide in the United States is legal in the states of California, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington. Assisted suicide by lethal injections has been practiced in other states with their Supreme Court consents.

imo, assisted suicide should have been legally practiced a long time ago for the same condition when nothing else helps painful suffering.

That would be tremendously happy. Strongly encouraging euthanasia is a smashing idea. On the contrary, however, all the money in the future will be used to help pensioners cheat death for another week.
