Are the 2 subject to avoid when trying find a partner.
Which begs the question, why are there so many posts on these 2 topics?
dunno
In your opinion, what topic if conversation would be the most off putting for you?

Anyone trying to have a conversation about religion with me will find himself sitting on his own fairly quickly. laugh

It can be discussed at some stage in private, but it's not something I have ever talked about when on a date. What type of values someone has is important to me and that becomes evident after a while anyway. dunno

Politics - have had a lot of dealing with that stuff in a former job so anyone not wanting to get offended better avoids that topic with me. hole

You know, after 5 minutes of talking to that person whether you want pursue the relationship further.... I've had dates when I never wanted the night to end but also had dates that after a couple of minutes, I was thinking of an excuse to leave.sad flower

I agree with Red.
If something is a taboo then WTH. I would much rather find out immediately if someone is worthwhile spending time with.

It not always that simple.. I'm sure there have been times in your life when you've become friends, either through work or a social venue , with a guy & one day , out of the blue, you start thinking more & more about them, not just as a friend but romantically ... Eventually the "love bug " hits you & you become hooked.. It's happened to the best of us.heart wings

These two subjects unfortunately have a great impact on our lives J, especially with the recent events...
Avoiding or pretending everything is fine is unnatural and shows a great amount of ignorance. Our future, the future of our children, our values and national traditions are at stake... As for the dating and politics, I personally would like to share the same opinion of the matter as my potential partner... wine

Granted & I understand the frustrations of most people on recent events but unless we can do anything to help the cause, it's pointless talking about it.
I know your views on the subject but I wouldn't blame the refugees for migrating , it's the idiot politicians who open their borders you should have the beef with.teddybear

Not to many topics would be a put off to me as long as the persons beliefs/disbeliefs aren't shoved down my throat.

I can't and could never stand the kind of people who are "Right Fighters" and know it alls about every single topic there is.

When seeking a partner? Best not to start hard-core religious and political debates! Why so many posts? I do not know? Maybe they do not seek a partner,...or they seek a partner akin to their beliefs?

Honestly, there are very few if any conversational topics I finf off-putting...topics brought forth only allow me opportunity to get to know the real person.

TheRedSquirrel87: There's everything right with nerdy interests so long as you don't seem like a nerd. Contrast is King.

Know thyself and nothing in excess are the words to live by. If you're a sophistikat then grow a pair of balls, and if you're a caveman, develop a brain. Don't be the pigeonhole.

Women are not an exact science , and should be treated differently , according to their individuality. The art is to be able to adapt to every situation by listening & analysing .. Women often refer to me as the strong silent type, which couldn't be further from the truth.. The truth is, I often can't get a word in edge ways .laugh

Reading or quoting from books or articles doesn't constitute a conversation , in my opinion.
The one who stands out from the crowd is she , who can share life experiences and not be afraid to be judged or judge others..

I wouldn't have much time for somebody who started ramming their political and religious beliefs down my throat on a first date.

Let's just say it'd be the only thing they would be ramminglaugh

It is generally easy enough to see if a person has a knowledge of, and an interest in such issues, without it being an actual focus of conversations.
