The Beatles many years ago asked "When I'm 64....." or something to do with that.

For the last year or so I have managed to be in a position where I have described my OCCUPATION as "Dole Bludger."

CentreUnlinked does not recognise this.

CentreUnlinked has put me on the "New Start Allowance."
1. I am not new out of school
2. I am not new off the boat
3. I am not new off sole parent.

I was something like 11 trying to make money off a paper route.

Every week I see people who have expectations that somebody else should provide for them.

When Bill Shorten stands up and says that negative gearing should only be for new housing, he ignores that his real life supporters are from working class families who are trying to stay afloat.

How many rental properties are owned by Laboring politicians and their supporters? And how many want to dump their low-income supported families?

Today I have had to keep my mouth shut when this couple living in shared tent accommodation in a back yard paying $75 each per fortnight.

Why do they live like this?
Is it because they failed to pay rent? ... maybe
Is because they caused damage to the rental property? maybe ....
Is it because the landlord took action to recover costs of damage and rent arrears....maybe.

wash2u: Unfortunately the "Myth" is based on fact. The trouble is that this originated back in the 70s under Whitlam. As an example, my brother tried employing bricklayers for the standard wages of $150 per week (good at that time). Everyone who came along said "No way am I working for $10 per week." They were getting $140 per week on the dole.

So here we are 45 years later and the dole has only doubled in that time while all costs have gone up tenfold. Truth be told, I do get $548.28 per fortnight on the dole (okay, NewStart Allowance} plus $6.20 Pharmaceutical Allowance (pays for 2 out of 4 drugs I need} and an Energy Supplement of $9.50 (currently costing me about $59 per fortnight as I do have aircon and I do like to cook my food).

During my limited time volunteering, I have seen where people can manage to get enough food each week for no cost at all. "If you go to BLAH-BLAH on Monday nights for free dinner or Wednesday free lunch, you can get 2 shopping bags full plus your meal for a Gold Coin donation."

I have just deleted a lot of stuff relating to my day-to-day expenses because it became depressing about how much more than the dole I need to keep living. So glad I gave up smoking which was costing me more than $280 per fortnight (I was a moderate smoker).
When I was living in town 20 years ago I had a small bull skinned and cut up for dog tucker on the back of my 4x4 reversed up against my garage roller door to stop the local dogs jumping on , well two shoulders were missing in the morning swiped by the locals . That bull had been dead two days hooked up in a fence , very near rotten . mumbling Bloody crooks , discussing it with a fella who sold vegies door to door reckoned it would have been sliced up and sold as beef . She-it it would have been tasty . The poor are a lot poorer now .

I don't go back to the 70s re work I finished school end of 79
But in the 80s company I worked for sold my section to another company long story short I got a very small pay out . I went for the same job another company and I don't recall the figure but was way less money than being unemployed.
Does make me think what the hell was going
I recall going for a home loan bank guy almost fell on the floor laughing at the wage I was earning . I did get one waste of time 20 years or so later .

cruiser68: I actually found out the reason for the high staff turnaround at centreunlink, is because they get to peruse all the job positions "FIRST " as they come in, and of course, apply and take the best on offer,,,, and leave the rest to the unemployed,,,, "FAIR " I don`t think so !!!!

I'm finding different teams at Centrelink are not talking
2 hours on their computer
Just under an hour on the phone for an interview.
Both with my rehab social worker .
We have accepted not to sickness benefits but incapacitated allowance
So I've had 4 no's to sickness
One no to incapacitated
And one call must be disability even after my social worker said its to early .
Plus I've had a job provider complaining I missed an interview I told him I have a job I can't work yet umm no you could do 15 hours a week
God in heaven he wouldn't talk to my social worker neither would the one re disability
Reason they could talk to me
Heavens above if I was faking an injury or be a drunk I'd be on benefits
Let alone my employer complaining I can't go back yet and therapists been to my work sight told them I can't do 8 hours a day to start with 3 over a long time ,
I'm told no way that is not a shift all because the companies work cover doctor sends everyone back on light duties for 8 hours . Of course it's my brain that takes 2 to 3 years to improve .
Ok lawyer is in action

robplum: yeah let the lawyer loose micky

It started last week Rob I have to attend the tribunal not this week but the next .
I'm seeing the neurosurgeon this week got a list of questions for him including
1 the pain is it the fractures or nerve pain
2 fracture is it 1 or 6 I've been told both
3 how can I do manual work if I keep getting light headed or dizzyness

All this after I heard work has said no to doing a different job there .
And no to doing less than 8 hours on light duties . They are saying no to a gradual return and no way to longer than 6 weeks because everyone whose hurt a muscle like the back only needs 6 weeks
Lol I'm told 2 to 3 years for the brain and may not ever be 100 percent

And Centrelink can't say yes to
Sickness incapacitated but wants doctors to check me for disability

One day I'll find out lol

Micky, me mate. Seems like you need the very unlinked CentreLink to accompany you to your workplace to discuss these issues. Maybe WorkCover can also assist. As should your Union.

Got it I'm going to the tribunal Tuesday
Why an employer and a work cover insurer are banging their chests claiming I'm not going to work .
1 no brain doctor has medically cleared me
2 my therapists went to my work place to see what I do . I had described my job and other jobs I can do there . And wished for me to do a gradual return to work .
3 my manger so employer has said no way to a gradual return no way can I do another job there . When I return Iike now I must be 100 percent preinjury and do the job I've been doing for 21 years .
4 my therapists are waiting to hear if it's work cover as the insurer took from October to mid January to day no .
I still am confused I'm getting no money from my employer no money from their insurer no money from the government.
So why are my employer and their insurance company complaining I'm not working
And I was told last Monday by a specialist that me and the employer must accept at this stage no manual labor .
I'll find out more Tuesday or more confusion lol

One more thing
My lawyer sent me to a neuropsychologist
My lad went with me while he waited outside .
There was a conversation going on a lady was there cause the same insurer as the one my company uses was refusing her insurance claim of work cover .

And my employer has been on channel 7 news for not paying certain higher up professionals two different wages when they should have been on the same wage , so the ones who make the company big bucks were on strike for 24 hours

yeah just play it cool Micky, don't converse with anyone other your lawyer about any work issue, wait until your Lawyer appears before Tribunal, one member might be a Judge and you shouldn't in my view do or say anything other than through your mouth peace....the lawyer

That's good, whatever the outcome Micky you should now rest knowing you've got good support working (hopefully) in your interests, I think other members on here would join me, wishing you well at the hearing and speedy recovery

Thanks Rob and everyone I'm just a bloke

One thing does make me think what will my employer do when they learn the neurosurgeon said no to 8 hours manual labor .
If I could get benefits I'd be less stressed out I think lol

Ok days of our lives continued yesterday
The tribunal was a joke they kept complaining over my medical records
My GP sent the ones pertaining to the accident .
The legal person was going off she is sending a summons for all my medical records.
Not sure what they'll send only been going there a year or so .
And the hospital is dragging its feet sending my information.
And my lawyer was stuck in court so they pressed on regardless with my lawyer on the phone .

Then it was time for my missing ENT appointment. I'm not going yell out what they think I have contracted thanks to this injury but next month an MRI .
Why they waited 6 months to even say I may have a non contagious disease
Heavens above
If my work here's the name ( it's not AIDS or HIV lol ) not sure they'll still scream for me to return

Tribunals are often sitting as telephone hook ups Micky.

Once upon a time a long time ago i filed an appeal n behalf incapacitated WW2 veteran in Hervey Bay. The Tribunal hearing that appeal was conducted using telephones.
Yes i won his appeal mainly the as the tribunal chair lady stated she couldn't care less about the veterans health, then later thought about what she had said, and found in his favor, so Veteran Hugh's was granted his well deserved war veterans pension, a POME sailor who had already as 14 year old boy sailor been on ships that were sunk (twice) and was then loaned to the Australian Navy on ships the UK supplied and sailed on more than one ship under Australian Flag and Australian Captains during Pacific Conflict and was on the first ship to sail into Tokyo Bay, was granted white card only...errrr

yeah it'll go on and on Micky, meanwhile sounds like someone has worked out you need financial support asap, so hopefully they will sort that sooner than later.
hang in there Micky
