"Shrimp, Asparagus, sun dried tomatoes in a nice red sauce with Penne Pasta" Took several fresh cloves of garlic minced them up and cooked them in some olive oil first then added the rest.
Ice Cream for desert.

Sounds divine Dragos grin

Since starting up a cooking class at work I'd fallen for the blah blah bottled minced garlic that was in the fridge mumbling

Until my volunteer sous chef brought me a container of peeled garlic cloves fresh from the market and life took on a whole new meaning, once again head banger laugh

thumbs up Yep, the Garlic is just so much better when you smash those fresh peeled cloves against the chopping board with the side of a cleaver or heavy chefs knife and then mince them up all nice and fragrant. I remember a long time ago I had one of those bottles of minced garlic but it just isn't quite the same.... Still better than no Garlic at all though! ;-} thx Serene

I love kicap manis! love

Over here, only the Malays use them as the Chinese tend to use more of the salty version of soy sauce.

As for the sesame oil, the Chinese use loads of them but the Malays and Indians hardly have it in their cuisine.

Mimi wave hug

I had a half jar of chili jam in the fridge and as I'd used it before I knew it needed some help lol

I added the kecap manis for some depth and sweetness, as opposed to regular, salty, soy sauce plus the sesame oil for ... well any excuse will do, I love it laugh

Smashed loads of fresh garlic in there and a little veggie stock to form a sauce conversing

Then some soy sauce over the top for a touch of salt grin

Serene, this is the best sesame oil in both Malaysia and Singapore. Wonder if you could get it from your local Asian grocer?

This is off topic, the Chinese deem sesame oil as 'heaty' therefore new moms who have just given birth and are having their 'post-natal confinement', their confinement diet would be laced with lots of sesame oil! I was made to eat lots of old ginger too ( cooked together with confinement dishes ) in order to expel wind out of one's body.

Not sure a vegetarian cookbook should be considered as a gift. A book of this nature could make you think the gift bearer doesn´t like you.

My guess is Mary Jane... weed... Nice way to have it if you dont like smoking and can wait an hour or so for it to come on.

Profiteroles and coffee, not the healthiest of breakfasts but I'll have a smoothie loaded with fruit and especially strawberries. That should make up for it.
