After being married for 30 years which ended 6 years ago, I have come to the conclusion that I now prefer to be single.
Reasons: Now I can decide in an instant whatever I want to do. No need to confer or get someone's permission as to where I want to go, which movie to watch or what is for breakfast.
Not that I didn't find being married raising 4 lovely children very satisfying and blessed, it is just that now, I wouldn't change where I am.
You? Where are you in life? Of course this is a dating site and perhaps that is why most of us are here looking right?
Well not quite for me, but I will never be absolute of what is.

I have said it before and I still stand to it... I am much happier as a single, and it is not down to bitterness towards men or just a bad luck in past...
I am relaxed and content and it will require a miracle to make me get out of my current comfort zone...

After 17 years of marriage I entered the world of singles. Oh boy what a difference :). At the beginning it was tough taking care of two children, fighting over the property etc. But I loved it right from the start. I love it for the same reasons you listed.
I feel like I can be myself now, would not trade it for anyone.

I looked 2 to 3 yrs after he passed but I couldn't find any man to fill his big shoes so to speak.
I've become friends with the neighbor guy who lost his mother last year and we spend time to together but that is as far it will ever go.
Just the last couple days we went out to some fishing ponds where you are only allowed to catch and release fish but it was fun.WE also walked around some very long trails but it was an enjoyable time.Today we went to an indoor/outdoor market to look and then on the way home we ate our lunch at a park.

Sharing my life with someone.
I never had it that I couldn't be myself with someone or felt I couldn't "unfold" myself. I always felt that the guys I was with for a long time enhanced my life and we supported each other. It was painful when it ended, but it's not that I didn't appreciate them being in my life.

I know it was very difficult for your late loving husband to be replaced or should I say, take his place, but this one seems very good for you and your daily life. Laughing, I love that, where you have to hold your stomach and curl with happiness. Keep it up CC and I am sure your neighbor is just as elated.

I agree with you Molly, of course, like I mentioned earlier, it would contradict our very effort to be here although, in all honesty like I have said before, my best friend of 34 years who is very active in here almost forced me to join only for the poetry. I was writing all my feelings right after I lost my two houses and followed by a divorce, and I enjoyed it and then bam...a fellow poet stole my heart. Two years of beautiful and remarkable experience, but we found out that we were better off without the other. No regrets, in fact I will have that love etched forever in my heart until God knows how long. But for right now I am loving being single, but, like I said, one day who knows it may change.
Yes Molly please don't get into a relationship just for the sake of having someone. But I know it will happen.
