TRUNEWS) The idea of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack disabling the U.S. energy grid has now gone mainstream.
A slide leaked to the Washington Examiner from a U.S. Air Force briefing show the military is now taking the threat very seriously.
Titled: “Our grids have become vulnerable”, the slide cataloged a spread of the potential threats including aging infrastructure, determined adversaries and severe natural disasters.

A bit late as many articles were written on what EMP's were and their destructive powers to all things electrical, including the power grids back in the early 80's. Journalists from magazines, newspapers and even 2 feature articles from Playboy Magazine if memory serves me right. Most of our pieces seemed to have fallen on deaf ears or were scorned by so called 'experts' especially in the US military. (None of their computers or other equipment had any shielding whatsoever though warnings had been around since the early 70's. Now the idiots finally wake up??? Hopeless....doh

It's the mass media who deny what they ignore.

Until the day that happens.

What the hell difference does it make , knocking out the grid is an act of war which would be retaliated against with some ICBM's , further retaliation would have all the city's relying on the grid destroyed so having a grid working won't make any sense dunno dunno dunno

If you like the type of novels which includes both fiction and non-fiction material, try the one called War Day by Whitley Strieber and James Kunetka, 1985 on the US getting nuked by the Russians. All the charts and tech. info on types of nukes used are non fiction and can easily be checked. I found it ironic as 1985 was the last date of a US complete overhaul of all their anti-electro-magnetic shielding of their electronics in virtually everything; trouble is that they did it against 8 to 10 ton megaton bombs. The Russians shortly after increased that to 10 to 20 megatons. That is enough to penetrate all silos and NORAD with ground bursts while all electrical equipment get fried with air bursts. The DOD info in the book is well worth having and no costs sending for it...
The story is ok but again the radiation fallout info is fact as he wrote it with the higher megaton yield and the effects on distances from radios blasts to everyday materials used in the construction industries and how well they can stand up depending on distance especially in fall out shelters, which have in the last 4 months increase in sales by over a 100% from recent interviews with companies that make them on MPR radio. The interviews also noted that many of their customers had been Trump supporters...how ironic...laugh

The Bible says there will be a sucession of disasters.

Not necessarily all natural disasters.

Beats living in or hiding in an old abandoned missile silo in the Dakotas. That'll be #1 on multiple in coming nuclear warheads, both on ground and air burst at 10 plus megatons. Even the failed US facilities at Cheyenne Mountain won't last with a 20 megaton blast, nor will the state and people and then the winds will carry the radiation south following prevailing wind patterns...good riddance.
Would the Med. are be of strategic value to hit ? Nothing as important as the Yanks missile silos and certain air bases in Texas. Enjoy the beaches!laugh

An EMP could have natural causes also. The Sun's activity has provoked previous disasters.

On July 9, 1962, at 09:00:09 Coordinated Universal Time (July 8, Honolulu time, at nine seconds after 11 p.m.), the Starfish Prime test was successfully detonated at an altitude of 400 kilometres (250 mi). The coordinates of the detonation were 16°28'N 169°38'WCoordinates: 16°28'N 169°38'W. The actual weapon yield came very close to the design yield, which various sources have set at different values in the range of 1.4 to 1.45 megatons (6.0 PJ). The nuclear warhead detonated 13 minutes and 41 seconds after liftoff of the Thor missile from Johnston Island.

Starfish Prime caused an electromagnetic pulse (EMP), which was far larger than expected, so much larger that it drove much of the instrumentation off scale, causing great difficulty in getting accurate measurements. The Starfish Prime electromagnetic pulse also made those effects known to the public by causing electrical damage in Hawaii, about 1,445 kilometres (898 mi) away from the detonation point, knocking out about 300 streetlights, setting off numerous burglar alarms and damaging a telephone company microwave link. The EMP damage to the microwave link shut down telephone calls from Kauai to the other Hawaiian islands.

A total of 27 small rockets were launched from Johnston Island to obtain experimental data from the Starfish Prime detonation. In addition, a large number of rocket-borne instruments were launched from a firing area at Barking Sands, Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands.

A very large number of United States military ships and aircraft were operating in support of Starfish Prime in the Johnston Island area and across the nearby North Pacific region.

A few military ships and aircraft were also positioned in the region of the South Pacific Ocean near the Samoan Islands. This location was at the southern end of the magnetic field line of the Earth's magnetic field from the position of the nuclear detonation, an area known as the "southern conjugate region" for the test. In addition, an uninvited scientific expeditionary ship from the Soviet Union was stationed near Johnston Island for the test, and another Soviet scientific expeditionary ship was located in the southern conjugate region near the Samoan Islands.

After the Starfish Prime detonation, bright auroras were observed in the detonation area as well as in the southern conjugate region on the other side of the equator from the detonation. According to one of the first technical reports:

"The visible phenomena due to the burst were widespread and quite intense; a very large area of the Pacific was illuminated by the auroral phenomena, from far south of the south magnetic conjugate area (Tongatapu) through the burst area to far north of the north conjugate area (French Frigate Shoals)... At twilight after the burst, resonant scattering of light from lithium and other debris was observed at Johnston and French Frigate Shoals for many days confirming the long time presence of debris in the atmosphere. An interesting side effect was that the Royal New Zealand Air Force was aided in anti-submarine maneuvers by the light from the bomb."
