Unfortunately, with todays technology, we are ever so far away from achieving 20% light speed! Light speed is approximately 670 MILLION mph! So far,...the fastest we have achieved is a little under fifty thousand mph! Hopefully, ionic propulsion theories will reduce this factor...but I fear I will never see interstellar travel in my lifetime. With my remaining years, I shall enjoy the advances in telescopic technology!

To add to that, If the decision was ever made to travel to a star, it certainly would not be Alpha Centauri. Our nearest stellar neighbor happens to be a binary which doesn't favor any life forms. There are other problems involving orbits with a binary system which are problematical.

I am always so fascinated by Astronomy. The Milky Way appears as a flat spiraling disc with a glowing raised "center". Our solar system would appear as little more than a speck in just one of those spiraling "arms". To even get to the end of the arm we're in would take over 30,000 years, and only at the speed of light, for that matter. In more condensed application, it has taken about 40 years for a probe to get to the "end" of our small galaxy (just past Pluto). The fastest a manned rocket has ever reached the moon is in about 3 days, and this was to go about 191,000 miles. (About 2700 mph)

Alpha Proximus....indeed...and to even hear talk of the orbital problems of binary systems....can you fix small engines? My lawnmower (totally incapable of interstellar travel) is beginning to piss me off!rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing peace cheers

Ain't going to be allowed to happen. Earthlings do not meet that star systems Visa requirements.
