I'm surprised to see so many Prince youtube videos. He was notorious for having his stuff taken down. I don't expect the links to stay good for long.

Nah,he kept a tight control on everything personally, so I'd say we are safe enough.

I'm actually curios to see if it changes.

I support the artists need to get paid for their work, and their right to control it's use, but also wish he hadn't been so controlling. I like sharing music with people, and have more than a few times wished I could link his work.

Hw was against streaming etc., not for himself, but felt that up and coming bands would never make it if everything was free

My favourite song was Let's Go Crazy. Other songs I liked were When Doves Cry, Little Red Corvette, Kiss, Purple Rain.

I had a hard time last night finding a decent Let's Go Crazy vid to post on a blog.

I'm really enjoying this right now. It was uploaded to youtube and he had it taken down soon after by Radiohead said no way, we want it there it's our song. So happy it stayed.

I love hearing prominent artists doing covers of other artists.

Here's a tribute from Chris Cornell of Soundgarden

"Prince’s music is the soundtrack to the soulful and beautiful universe he created, and we have all been privileged to be part of that amazing world.

I performed his song "Nothing Compares 2 U" for the first time a couple months ago. It has a timeless relevance for me and practically everyone I know.

Sadly, now his own lyrics in this song could not be more relevant than at this moment, and I sing them now in reverence as I pay tribute to this unequaled artist who has given all of our lives so much inspiration and made the world so much more interesting.

We will miss you Prince!!!"

- Chris Cornell

I was just north of Huntsville, Alabama. Traveling to my Uncle's funeral Thursday afternoon, when I heard the news of the passing of The Artist, The Symbol, and will always be remembered as, Prince. And the Top 40 Stations in that area abandoned their regularly scheduled popular mix that day, and played music by Prince, back-to-back till evening.

If the day wasn't sorrowful enough, this news really punctured my inter child on that gloomy rainy day to Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

I was twenty when 'Purple Rain' opened in theaters. And in that same year of 1984, Van Halen released the titled album: 1984, Duran Duran was also incredibly HOT, and Madonna was singing: Like A Virgin, which pretty much summed-up our state of being at the age of twenty. Along with finalizing my first divorce from an awkward teenage marriage.

Was back in Louisville, Kentucky in 1984. Partied every night and morning and worked during the day. And back to partying. Was able to work and party three days in a row, before passing-out. Recover, and do it all over again. Those days are defiantly gone now, but it was a blast. Started feeling the strain by 23, and had to stop or die.

Upon arrival to a party, Prince was playing, or at some point during the night or early morning: songs by Prince were always part of our events. I've danced to Prince, held dates close to me while listening to Prince. Have cried with friends while hearing Prince in the background. Have had girlfriends breakup with me while hearing Prince. And have formed new romantic flings with the sound of Prince near.

After parties, we would go to the 24/7 Cafe-Diner to load-up on coffee to help recover from alcohol and smoke before work. And sometimes, we would walk in and hear the songs by Prince playing on the jukebox. Party with Prince, crash with Prince, and recover with Prince.

This has been a very sad year.
