Windows 10....MY computer is MINE not yours ( Archived) (70)

Windows 10 is annoying. I had some version or another of Windows Media player running even tho I did not use it often it had some files on it I wanted. Recently I tried to reinstall it after refreshing my computer. EVEN THO I JUST HAD IT ON MY WIN 10 computer, MS is now telling me that media player is not compatible w/ WIN 10. I am thinking of just getting rid of windows.

I have had several other issues with WIN 10 not letting me do what I want to do. It would not let me format a drive recently. Also this this "upgrade" (their term , not mine) came with no install CD so there is little control on repair and the repairs installed do not work...I could go on and on........so when I went to delete it and put up Linux, WIN10 STOLE MY MAIN DRIVE by telling me that I could not format MY OWN DRIVE. Ridiculous.

Anyone else with any luck regarding media players and WIN 10? Thanks.

wave Felix...Hi yes I've been running win10 for quite awhile and it does take alot of research to figure it out. I also tried to use win media, and was told same thing. Windows10 now has a different program called 'Groove Music'..when you first open it run..it should ask somewhere to reload all your music from win media. Let me know how it goes..

Best of Luck and hope this helps.comfort

Hello, felixis.. Can't help, I abandoned Windows OS when Microsoft dropped support for WIN 98. Went to Mac then and never looked back. Most Mac OS updates and version upgrades are applied over the Internet. Very seldom do I see backward software or hardware compatibility with Mac OS or hardware drivers from OEMs either.

Also Felix..you probably would need to revert it back to win7(or what you started with) before trying to uninstall for linux..(I think)..once your hard drive is back to previous OS...I have never tried to do that so dont quote me. Or probably microsoft wont allow it on win10, I dont really know that info yet.
All I have read tells me..microsoft put out win10 to fix alot of the bugs from win8 and win8.1..which it did..but in my opinion this OS is a good one. However...there's a ton of settings to change to your own liking, and even then...alot of the apps are controlled by default whether you change them or not..
It depends which OS you started with before the Upgrade.
I could go on and on too..

Try installing VLC media player...it's free (open source).
Or dual boot your computer with Linux...

Hiya Felix wave The title of this thread says it all for me and that's why I refuse to use Windows 10. conversing I hope you manage to get it all sorted out to your satisfaction.

As soon as the Windows 10 icon notification showed up where my other icons are displayed at the bottom of my monitor screen I got rid of it.

I've been using Windows 7 and have experienced no problems.

Maybe you need to switch to something totally different to see if you still experience the very same issues.dunno

Hi , It has been forced on people , tucked nicely among the usual upgrades . Complaints have been made over that little trick . I was warned by my ISP about it , that it was a big item needing lots of data stuffs (forgotten word they used ) . There is a program to dump it that's free off the web , I used it so is simple enough . Its use's a lot of battery power is a recent comment I have seen somewhere , jesus I need coffee , minds blank .

HI Felixis wave I have been on Window 10 for over a year now. I got it when it first became available. What I did was purchase a computer with it already installed and kept my other one also. There are several things that windows 10 does not do. Everyone who I talked to who has installed it on a pre existing system seems to have problems with it. I will say that even tho there are things it does not do they make up for it with the things it does do. To uninstall your upgrade if you have had it more than a month is going to be difficult. See if you can maybe reset your pc to factory settings. But keep in mind you will lose any personal files you have so be sure and back stuff up. That is the only thing I can think of to try. Or take to a professional. Good luck!

Ccincy: Yes Mr Pedal pusher I understand but it appears that I'm one of the lucky ones to which it hasn't try to reinstall itself.

It will. When you go to shut off your computer, it won't let you
until new updates are installed. It will pop up randomly, I just
drag it to the bottom now, as it won't let you close the window.
Microsoft has it covereduh oh (pricks)

pedal you are wrong and I have shut down my computer completely and "No" Windows 10 has reinstalled itself.

I don't claim to be a computer expert but if my son and my late husband were on here they would back me up and prove you wrong.

on the usual updates I know pedal has it right , on the windows 10 auto reload I have not seen that yet . When I need my computer off , and an update is stopping my computer shutting down I pull the battery and disconnect the power , gets real funny next log in time , sometimes .

I had an update this morning and nothing happened.

I'm not going to continue to debate this so lets just remain civil adults and agree to disagree.

erib I don't have Windows 10 and thank goodness I don't.When the icon showed up where my other icons are the very first time I got rid of it.

I had a salesperson attempt to sell me a computer with Windows 10 on it and I refused.

I've heard too many people having problems with it.
