As only 7 weeks left, before the start of the Summer Olympics
in Brazil, some people say,and some believe, that the infrastructure
for the games (stadiums etc),will not be ready, with fears that the
games might be postponed or canceled.-
Many believe, amongst them Christine Lagarde of the IMF,its a
good idea the Summer Olympics to be moved permanetly, in their
place of birth. Greece.
What do you say???
YES or NO ???

Why no? The Olympics cost too much money for a single country to bare, it makes a huge amount of sense to move to a permanent arena in Greece, that can be maintained by all the competing countries, at a fraction of the cost. Also, the facilities could be used in the non-competing years as a practice centre, hired out to teams.

Why do you think differently? Interested people need to know grin

I don't think the Greek governmental system and infrastructure is currently suitable to take on such a massive undertaking.

Also, it could then be argued that all rugby and football world cups can only be held in Britain, golf in Scotland, etc.

You wish that the international community would prop up an industry in your own back yard for you to live off through no merits of your own, but I think you should learn from the past.

It makes a huge amount of sense in the same way that the EU makes a huge amount of sense. But what seems like the overall more efficient plan is incredibly corrupting on the national, local and individual level.

Paying for it themselves wouldn't be the suggestion. The idea would be to mandate the international community to invest in Greece allowing Greece to be a permanently subsidised nation. It's a thinly-veiled wealth redistribution.

The Olympics should be permanently held in Manchester and the entire world should be made to pay to ensure that workers in Manchester have jobs and Mancunian businesses thrive.

With the state of affairs regarding Brazil and Qatar, it won't be long before the Olympics is shutdown.
Unless a solution is found that cuts down the immense cost of hosting the event.

Molly, I take your point and cannot disagree, the Greeks have proved to be totally unreliable and corrupt. But, maybe by having a management that has the games at heart rather than the country, they may have better control.

Maybe France is a good location, after all without Pierre De Couberton, there would be no modern Olympics.

Riz, it would be very difficult to find a group to manage it without any corruption.

Nobody has the games at heart - it is all about money.

Otherwise, it would never have gone to Qatar.

Not the same Molly, like foot ball.
Each country will have, own and use those facilities (if they want),
all years around,as they have paid to own, those facilities.-
