I hiked up the 3 mountains that make up the Flatirons in Boulder, Colorado. Green Mountain, Bear Mountain, and South Boulder Peak, which are just under 9,000 feet above sea level. First I hiked them individually, then I did the triple peak challenge and hiked all of them in one day. I never climbed the Flatirons though because I did not have the ropes and equipment for them. They are red rock formations that jut out of the mountains made of 2 billion year old granite laced with iron which makes them red because plain granite is grey

I am not a climber but since one of my children is I have to climb now and then.
Recently we (my daughter and I) went climbing to a “pico “ 5,300 meters above sea level but i did not make it. I did not acclimatize enough and in my way down one of the climbers that we met there (from Eslovaquia) was very nice he said to me: you did reach your summit.
My answer: yes, I did and we both just laugh and I wished him and his mates a safe journey.

Another time, I had to climb a rock (we were already 4,000+ meters above sea level and there was not other way to go ahead so there I went, along was an American nice young guy and he said that his Mother worries a lot when he goes climbing so he was going to tell his mother that a mother (me) was climbing rocks laugh (I had to uh oh )

What is next with this child of mine?

grin
