Gymnasium

In German it is the highest form of the ways you can go regarding your school time. I never have been sure if it is the same as "high school" in English confused

I think Gymnasium is in Greek gymnasion? And there is, too, a word gymnos = naked? Did the people in Greek in the ancient world all kinds of sport maybe nakedly?

Has the same meaning in Greek. The last 6 terms after the first 6 in primary school.
Also in modern Greek "gymnastirion" where people compete or
train.
Yes Gymnasium roots is ""Gymnos".
In ancient times, you had to cover your "privates" during competition.
